This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The Forgers claim another victim

I remember that thread. It was really amusing how folks were tripping over themselves trying to display their concern for TBP and the direction it should take - oh, the humanity :D

Hm.... well, that sounds like a lot of work. Too much work, after all, they should KNOW what a perfect snowflake I am without my having to work at it. I mean, between just dissappearing and hoping they know I'm gone, finding a thread that says something I can get huffy about to dissappear in a puff of logic, or creating a huge drama to go out in a nuclear holocaust...

well, lets say that none of them really say beautiful perfect snowflake so well as actually creating a billboard announcement thread to go out in with my purple prose swansong lingering like sweet memories of the halycon days of basking in my presence
:o
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

Looks more like a selfmade victim claiming [at this point in time] "Forgers". *shrug*

Dude.  Woah.  Seriously, that whole thing was probably the best summary of that situation I have EVER READ. (point of fact, she posted the BAN ME, IIRC, on another thread in the Trouble Tickets forum).

WTF? Why are we agreeing on all this shit? Is Jupiter crossing Saturn or something? :D

Also, man, this is bringing me back. Were you around like in 2000-2001, before they upgraded to the new forum system? There was this crazy chick there from the UK. This was like sorta in the nascent form of Tangency, but again it was a woman that didnt roleplay yet fostered this creepy queen-bee clan around her by posting pics of herself and the like... Fuck, I cant remember her name. Unfortunately, no fabulous flame-out story (just another case of how somone who doesnt game could generate a cult of personality by festering in Tangency), rather she just flitted away when the New Forums came.

I registered in I think early 2002, though did lurk before that. I don't recall any crazy UK Queen Bee, but they all do kind of blur into each-other, you know?

Tangency seems to attract a lot of non-gamers. Like bulletproof, who'll top any story anyone else posts. See, I like telling tall stories - but I keep it at the gaming table ;)

Yanno, she'd probably make a really good roleplayer if she could direct that Munchausen's imagination towards it.

Otherwise, it's just really damn wierd.

Just as a side note, there is no way in hell I could resist such a request, even without the "motherfucker".

Quote from: JimBobOzYou could at least flame out. The good ones get remembered for years.

There was a crazy bitch on Tangency Open, never gamed, just loved having a clique worship her there. Went by the name of Redredredderreddest.
...
See, they got all upset that sometimes it'd be as much as twenty minutes between someone posting "I hate niggers and faggots", and their getting banned. They were also upset that when they called some racist a dumb cunt, they themselves would get suspended for personal attacks. So they started the petition for the Emotionally Safe Environment. By which they meant, "the popular kids get to abuse those they think are racist/sexist/etcist."

Karma's a bitch.

"There was a crazy bitch on Tangency Open..."  that's my new opening line for future bedtime stories...

Honesty, the wife of Dog Rough.  They were from Ireland, if I recall correctly (which I might not).

She liked to tell stories about herself and how she'd get totally shit-faced at the pub, dance on tables, and all the lads loved her and hooted and goaded her on all night long.  And she'd brag about her latest spinal tattoos, and what a fucking genius her 3-year-old daughter was.  Back when RPG.net's "Art of Game Design" forum was worth a crap, Dog Rough used to frequent it, so Honesty would barge into threads and begin posting inane crap, and when anyone would complain about the disruption, she and Dog Rough would accuse them of having no sense of humor.

As I recall, her fluorescence occurred at precisely the time that Tangency was created, and it could be that it was created as a game preserve for the likes of her.  She kept getting chased out of AoGD and shouted down on Open for being a jackass, so Tangency became her stage.  No, she didn't flame out, but I think this was an instance where Wild West justice ran its course -- without need of a moderator, the community as a whole coalesced and let her know just how unwelcome she was on any of the forums.

Wait, wait.  No.  I think you're referring to the chick from Canada.  Wasn't married to anyone.  Went by the name of Something-Cat or Cat-Something, or Kitty-Somesuch, or whatever.  As I recall, she wasn't obnoxious like Honesty, or all in-you-face like RedRedderReddest, but she tended to play the victim a bit.

Tangency is really no different than "Off Topic Discussion" here.  The difference isn't that the board is a free-for-all discussion place.  the difference is that it's not a place for free speech.  It's a place where you can only speak freely enough not to offend the in-power clique or their heart-felt socio-political preferences.

Yeah, I remember her.

The difference is that over there, you started getting people joining the site just for the off-topic discussion. It stopped being about gamers.
