This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

As I said before, I'm trying to keep the links as things which everyone can enjoy, and/or participate in; that's why I generally exclude system-specific stuff.

From a glance over your blog, it doesn't appear you're inviting actual collaboration - others can comment, but really it's your baby. It'd be like if I ahd a blog for d4-d4 revised - it's mine. The "under construction" section is for ones inviting open collaboration. This is different to Ian's Mariner, where he'd be delighted if someone else would write one of the books for him, or do some conversions.

Suggested links, and any praise or criticism of the link list, should be PMed or emailed - let's keep the thread for updates.

Added a link to Alien abductions - like Icke's webpage, also not a roleplaying one, but with many articles on alien abductions of humans and their plans to create alien-human hybrids to take over the world. Good for a Delta Green campaign, perhaps?

Renamed "Campaign webpages" to "Campaign & setting webpages" to reflect that I'll also put in loopy stuff like Icke and this alien abduction guy - stuff which isn't actually roleplaying material, but could be.

I attended a lecture Icke gave during my undergraduate days. Let's just say the man has a... novel interpretation of global politics.

Great fodder for gaming, though.

Added a couple of links,
  • Armour Archive, a page about armours of history with the aim of making modern examples for reconstruction or SCA.
  • WWIV & Colony, two detailed GURPS campaigns, one set in "WWIV" (the War on Terror) and the other on an alien world where humans are trying to improve local technology.
and did a check to see which links were still active, thus deleted a few dead links and corrected a couple of others.

I'm looking for a link to some free mapmaking software, as I think that'd be useful to many of us.

I've also got a heap of historical links. These could be useful for people wanting to run historical or historically-themed campaigns, but I don't know how interested people would be? There'd be as many links again as we've already got.

Fleshed out the links about the origins of roleplaying games.
  • The roots of roleplaying, in which David Wesely talks about how he invented polyhedral dice. Then here is described "The Secret History of Roleplaying" (scroll to about the middle of the long page). And then the dungeon crawl is described by the sole survivor of the TPK. They even LARPed a little bit.
When you read all that, what you find out is that David Wesely created a roleplaying game by accident, and after the session thought it was a disaster and didn't want to do it again, but his players insisted. Then Dave Arneson picked it up and added to it, made it more complex, then Gary Gygax came along and joined in and together they really started it up. Then the two of them split up and now both each claim to have started it.

So in the end, basically roleplaying was created by a guy whose condom slipped off, it's the bastard child of wargaming, and it got adopted by a same sex couple who then split up and both claim custody, one of them got custody and then had such big hopes for it that he fucked it all up and now it's a complete slut and ends up in the strangest places.

Added a link to,
  • Treasure Tables' GMing wiki, an excellent series of articles on running game groups, preparing campaigns, and so on - also, they're written by different people so you get different points of view.
It's so good, and has so many different articles, I had to bump the thread to make sure everyone saw it ;)
