This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'd avoid the sfrpg site above, I think it's the only site I've sen with a mod more arrogant than the site that must not be named.
Go an\' tell me I\'m ignored.
Kick my sad ass off the board,
I don\'t care, I\'m still free.
You can\'t take the net from me.

Though I'm sorry you had a bad experience, I've found them generally quite friendly. But I know who you mean.
Here for the games, not for it being woke or not.

Form the group wisely, make sure you share goals and means.
Set norms of table etiquette early on.
Encourage attentive participation and speed of play so the game will stay vibrant!
Allow that the group, milieu and system will from an organic symbiosis.
Most importantly, have fun exploring the possibilities!

Sacrificial Lamb

I just created a new forum and new blog, and I have very limited experience doing this kind of thing, so please be gentle. :) Both sites will focus on roleplaying games, the PC game Rune, food, goofy animals, and whatnot. I'll be cross-posting my Random Encounter Tables at my forum, and at the citadelofchaos.net.

The forum will partially act as a wiki for my gaming campaign, and I'm going to try to convert my campaign stuff into as many gaming systems as I can possibly think of. For now, I'm starting off with AD&D and D&D 3.x.

My goal is to add as many links to roleplaying game sites as I possibly can, so it's a work-in-progress. Here are the two links, lovingly titled "Lambshack"... :)

Look into my eyes. Are you looking? You better be looking. Okay, now keep looking. You are getting sleepy, very sleepy... But not so sleepy that you cannot click here to visit RPG Freak.

Interested in unique settings? Sick of the same old thing everywhere you go? Check out RPG Freak where the genres played are a bit different from the norm. RPG Freak is a forum based play-by-post role playing site with a growing community that doesn't restrict itself to any one genre. RPG Freak is all about role playing diversity.

Currently three games open for more members, and more on the way. We have a low fantasy setting involving a search for a supposed dragon and a band of demons, a viking settler rpg in a strange new world, and a contemporary game involving a ship wreck and a mysterious island.

Don't deny your true feelings. Embrace your inner freak. Go to rpgfreak.forumotion.com

And brag about us to all of your friends. (they'll be jealous).

If you happen to be a Scion player (I know some besides me must still exist, they've got to), you might want to give John's Scion Resources a peek. Better known to WW forum-lurkers as Gotham by Night or just GBN, it's a pretty massive compendium of house rules, supplementary powers and information, story chronicles and fan pantheons for use by anybody and everybody. Also it's very shiny.

Scion comes pretty broken out of the box, and these guys have done some impressive things with attempting to make it not only function but really make supercharged mythic heroism a fun prospect. I'm pimping them now because, while most of us that lurk on WW's Scion forums know about them, others might not and they're currently running a fan-involvement poll on their blog to see what others in the community might like to see as resources.

I've compiled a rather extensive list of fanzines distributed in PDF format. My original focus was on collecting link to zines of interest to players of old school fantasy RPGs, but I've branched out.  Although I do link to a few pay-for-PDF sites I think are worth the cash, the focus is on FREE fanzines, all currently available for download.

I went through all the periodical links on rpggeek.com and tracked down current websites or links to PDFs using The Wayback Machine at archive.org. In some cases, I've collected issues at several Google Sites pages.

If I missed some zines or you find a dead link, leave a comment on the zine list:

"By the Book" or "BtB" merely means that the game is being played within close physical proximity to one or more of the books containing the material which explains how to play the game. If the book is not within close proximity, one is playing "away from the book" or "across from the book" or "someplace where the book is not located".

I suggest adding more Retroclones to the OP's list:
Dungeon Crawl Classics (0e)
Lamentations of the Flame Princess (0e)
Dark Dungeons (Rules Cyclopedia/Frank Mentzer inspired)
Adventurer Conqueror King (B/X)

I apologize if this was discussed already.  I also realize that only LotFP and Dark Dungeons have free versions, but ACKS and DCC should have honorable mentions.

EPIC AVATAR Guy

This site draws and displays (your) roleplay charactres. Might be usefull as inspiration, or a way to get a memento of a great adventure.
