This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

So, those of you who frequent Indie Press Revolution DTRPG/RPGNow/OBS, YourGamesNow, e23, etc., what primarily pdf-producing companies do you feel are among the best at crafting top-notch pdf products?  I think Ronin Arts has to be up there, definitely 01 Games (for their amazing cartography).  Who else is out there making great pdf games/resources?

I have always found Phill Reed at Ronin Arts to do quality work and be quite approachable.

Joe Browning at XRP also so.

Phil is an absolute genius and I can say that with no embarrasment as someone who competes against him daily. He singlehandedly invented a new business model for PDFs that has been adopted, to one degree or another by every single PDF company in existence. Along the way he's built a PDF only company (he might print occasionally but it's definitely not his focus) bigger than most print RPG companies, with PDF sales second only to Wizards of the Coast.

Joe Browning wrote what might be the single best conceived single PDF of all time, Magical Medieval Society Western Europe. My print copy sees a lot of use but it really caught people's imaginations and filled a need for world builders.

Matter of fact, at my blog, rpgdesign.blogspot.com I have interviews up with both men.

I found your interview with Phil to be both interesting and insightful. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed with Joe's. Not from anything to do with format or questions, I just thought he would have more to say. Still, I respect Joe a lot.

Have you picked up XRP's Silk Road?  It's nothing short of outstanding--caravans, trade routes, tons of source material for historical and fantasy settings alike.  XRP is one of those companies like PIG, where I know every book/file I pick up is going to be an A+.

I dont have that one yet. It does sound loike something I need though.

Thanks for the heads up.

Dr Rotwang!

PIG publishes good games with good support at a good price.

I may not be playing Iron Gauntlets after all, but it's not at all bad stuff.

Your choice of game rather limits your range of PDF publishers. Nobody publishes any of the games I like well in PDF format.

Although somebody is going to publish something good for Traveller this year ... :naughty:

I'd actually like to see someone publish a whole bunch of mapped out sectors of space, ready to go, generic for any system.

Not sectors of space and not entirely generic, but Modern Backdrops

Edit: Ok, didn't read the whole thread so this is a complete non-sequitor, but I'm leaving it because I think it's a cool product

Doesn't Comstar do this? I am not familiar with the Traveller lines but I know they publish supplements for Traveller.
