This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The awesome pointy-hat wearing Magic User thread!

My God.  Frazetta rocks.  (Yeah, it's obvious, but I'm reminded everytime I see one of his pics.)

EDIT: Of course most people would want to kill that bad ass summoner dude.

Me?  I want to be him.

Quote from: RockViper... Here is another from my RPG art folder, Is a Larry Elmore Book cover, I just noticed most of my RPG art is half naked chicks :o
...

Wow.  How is it possible for someone who likes Frazetta to also like Elmore?

If you can find College of Wizardry, a wizard school supplement by Bruce Cordell and released by TSR in the late 2e era, there are some a few cool pics of pointy hats, which imply that they are a symbol of status for wizards at the College.

4e definitely has an Old School feel. If you disagree, cool. I won\'t throw any hyperbole out to prove the point.

The cover of B1: In Search of the Unknown (1979 editions) features a pointy hatted wizard (with stars on his hat!) exploring a forest of giant mushrooms, with a couple of fighters and a dwarf. :)

This guy has a hat, and Erol Otus drew him:

Also, note what the wizard in the "game wizards" logo is wearing.
