This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

If you were going to make an Ice Pirates RPG, what mechanic would you use and why?

I'd use HERO system because HERO system works for everything but fantasy.

I'd probably use TFOS.

To me, Ice Pirates would call for something ultra fast to run.  Given the fumbling and random activities of the protagonists, it can't be a system which really encourages too much standing around thinking of tactics, just roll and go.

While death does happen in the film, the main characters are utterly invulnerable to it in a way that seems to surpass simple script immunity.  Most deaths are actually played for laughs, with the largest casualties being the robots.

After thinking this through, I think I'd use TWERPS.  :D

Wait, wrong board...

I'd probably use something generic that I'm familiar with:  d20 most likely, maybe FATE after I've done a game or two with it.

I haven't seen that movie since I was seven, now I have to go watch it again...

I believe it was. ;)

Actually, Risus might do well--the cliches would be pretty easy to decide upon for each character, I'm thinking.
