Just got done watching the Sunday podcast from Legion of Myth.

Kickstarter announced by Kevin Seimbeida and Sean Robertson.   TMNT license is back.  They're going to remake the TMNT RPG.  It will be mostly as it was, but new art.

There will be two books.  They're taking six old books and mashing them together to make the new ones.

TMNT 2024 book 1 = TMNT RPG + Trucking Turtles +Turtles go Hollywood
TMNT 2024 book 2 = Interdimensional Turtles + Turtle Adventures + TMNT Guide to the Universe.

There will be alternative covers, including one that is Black & White with red highlights (this version will keep the Turtles in all four red masks like they were back in the first days).

Also, they're going to make GM screens like the old game had.

One bad thing is no PDF version.  Paramount Pictures required that be the case, so don't blame Palladium for this fact.

The kickstarter goes live on Halloween, aka October 31.

Edited to add additional info like book content and such.
I'm glad for you if you like the top selling game of the genre.  Me, I like the road less travelled, and will be the player asking we try a game you've never heard of.

The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

Well, THAT is a news tidbit I didn't see coming.

Fuck no PDF, though. May not be Kev's fault, don't care, I'm out.

Nothing a decent scanner can't fix, there.

While it is nice to see TMNT rpg back in orint, I wish as a company they would invest in new IPs. Not to mention knowing PB the reprint will be 2-5 years late and simply be a rehashed, Recycled product with a new cover and maybe an handful of new art. With virtually nothing changed including typos.

As for no PDFs that is a dumb as fuck decision to make. So no one will pirate the " new " book. Good luck with that. Everytime they take an tentative step toward as an company they insist on taking 50 steps back,

Hopefully the actual KS will be far clearer as to what the books are going to end up being. From my initial read this sounds like a reprint of the old Revised version of the game, probably with a good edit, likely with a reflowed layout to account for the new art. I'm not sure if the source material being spoken of is more or less going to be presented as it had been, or if it will be broken into chunks that make more sense - say, for instance, having the various additional animals that were added then put in alphabetically with the rest, and then grouping setting/adventure materials separately.

My gut tells me that this is going to be closer to the Star Wars WEG reprint that came out, where it's not like the company that produced it had reacquired the license to make MORE of the game, but just to reprint that specific chunk.

Odd. I'd heard Siembieda was finally retiring after handing the reins off to Pinnacle for the Palladium IPs. Very strange.

Not Pinnacle.  Kevin S. Hired Sean Robertson to take over.  Sean may have been involved with the Rifts Savage World products, but Palladium is to stay independent under Sean, and keep making their own stuff.  Sean isn't going to reinvent the wheel.  If anything, he will maybe make a 3rd edition set of rules that clean up the confusing nature of Palladium, and maybe make a set of QuickStart rules.  None of that is imminent.

I'm glad for you if you like the top selling game of the genre.  Me, I like the road less travelled, and will be the player asking we try a game you've never heard of.

Also, this is as a couple people guessed.

TMNT 2024 will be mostly a reprint with new art.  The game's not broken, so they're not fixing it.  Well, not much.  They may change a few things like nerfing the weasel and fix some poorly written bits.

But, the fans want their old game, not a new edition.  So, it's going to stay as it was.  If you already own TMNT, don't buy this.

Here is a link to the first YouTube video from Legion of Myth's podcast.  About 46 minutes long.  Kevin and Sean are the guests.

I mean, there will be a PDF version for sure.  It just means that the author won't get any recompense for it.

From today in the comments:
"So no new rules or expansions just new art?"
"Quick answer: Yes. I broke the stream into 5 videos to be releases one per day. As the series goes on, Sean & Kevin explain why. [Spoiler: Paramount]"

It is interesting to see the hardcore PB faithfultry to make the announcement much bigger than it really should be. PB and zKevin have a terrible habit of continually announcing secret projects. Getting an older IP with just some new color art is not going to be considered something big. Outside of the PB Hardcore Faithful yo more moderate and new fans it's like being told an old house brand new because the bathroom was recently renovated.

Running damage control and failing given thatvhave other kickstarters that are late. I see no incentive to buy the new book of it's just a fancy reprint. Why not continue using what I have,

I am a Palladium fan boy.  I don't consider this announcement that big of a deal.  People can buy the book again, but that is only good news for the guys who couldn't get a copy when they were new, or don't want a used one today.

I don't own TMNT.  I don't care about it.  I like RoboTech, Rifts, Heroes Unlimited, and Palladium Fantasy.  We also owned Recon and Nightspawn as well, but only played Recon once or twice, and Nightspawn was never played.

The reason I posted was to get the word out for those that care.  I agree that Palladium Books have not had a great track record.  I did kickstart the RoboTech minature game, and the mini's I got were trash, and thrown away that day I got them.

Again, if you have the old TMNT books, then I suggest to NOT back/buy this new version.  Wait until reviews are out, and even then it sounds like it isn't going to be anything new as a game, so don't bother.

That's where I'm at right now...I have almost all of the books except for two (Truckin' Turtles and Turtles go Hollywood...still trying to find these at a reasonable price), so I really don't see the point in backing this; kinda seems like a way to pump some money into Palladium. Also, the whole Robotech minis game fiasco means they can SAD before I'll ever Kickstart anything. Show me a physical product and I can give you some money.
It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance.
