This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Steve Sechi created it. He oversaw the production of this iteration. The rest of us are life-long fans that have been playing and some worked on previous editions. So it's still in the family.

Cool. Unfortunately never acquired or played Talislanta way back when. I should've bought that used copy. I seem to recall a boxed set, was there one?

1st! While it's not the same as having a book in your hand - avail yourself of the entirety of the Talislanta's previous editions if you don't already own them at the website! //www.talislanta.com

2nd - the boxset. There was an intent to deliver TSL as a boxset but for varying reasons that Steve could answer better than myself could answer. I surmise it was a cost-thing plus the shift in publishers.

The system seems familiar and simple. I like.
Playing: With myself.
Running: Away from bees.

In case anyone that backed Talislanta: The Savage Land hasn't heard - with the passing of Stewart there aren't enough resources to do the Savage Worlds or Pathfinder Edition (Classic Talislanta, D6, and 5e are locked and loaded.) So you can go change your KS order's accordingly - including getting a refund.

Steve Wieck has come through and production has resumed on the original three editions.

Gorgeous!!  I suggest everyone get the classic T version. You can always use a light fantasy system!

Yeah I'm over the moon with the art. Completely changes the feel of classic Talislanta (which tended to be more bright and vibrant) to the conceits of the Savage Lands era - which is post-apocalyptic.

I'm hoping it comes together that we can do a modern Talislanta (perhaps set in a different location on the world) and have an entirely different palette.

Some more stuff they released

The game has dropped (PDF first for backers - print is incoming). If anyone has any questions/comments etc. feel free to ask.

I'm still going over it, I've been very pleased with the final product. There's a lot of random encounter tables, random damage rules are back, and a definite nod to the "old school" in this edition.

Mike the Mage

I have several incarnation of Talislanta but this is just amazing!

On my shopping list as of right now.

There's a D&D 5e version that will be coming soon as well.

I am actually quite looking forward to seeing the new version of the The Omni System but a D&D version that does a AIME kinda thing would be worth picking up too!

Arrrgh I'm gonna be poor again!

Well this version is a much more cleaned up edition of the Talislanta system (OMNI). There have been some tweaks and modifications but the core of what you know is right there. It's more 2nd ed Talislanta than anything else. But outside of the magic systems of the various Talislanta editions, the core resolution mechanics were all pretty close.

You should feel right at home. Lots of OSR goodies in there too, plus mass-combat rules, and big sandbox locations and setpieces with a view of the Talislanta world from an entirely different perspective.

Sold! x2

Now if I could just have a DCC version....

Just kidding!

Any idea when print versions will hit stores?

The only issue I ever saw with Talislanta was a lack of exposure imo. No advertising or not very much of it. Word of mouth by gamers is good yet they need to do more. As well as a lack of expansions for the setting. One of the reasons why a rpg like Pathfinder does well is that it releases new sourcebooks on a constant basis. I'm not saying they need to release as much yet a core book with little support will not work this time around.

I agree with tenbones on what I have seen about the art. Rpgs are imo a visual medium and the new art is good and makes one want to read the rpg more.

I'm still thoroughly bummed that the Pathfinder edition will never see the light of day. It was the only one I was interested in.

I have just downloaded the core version, the OMNI by any other name version.
Very excited.
