Title: Take care, and thanks for the fish!
Post by: Settembrini on June 01, 2007, 05:58:04 AM
I´m off, writing an adventure (http://jrients.blogspot.com/2007/05/woadwrimo-is-here.html) (and even other, more important stuff, that is none of your business). See you all once I´m done.

Keep fighting the good fight!

Or at least have fun gaming.

This is not a hug-post, just a reminder that even if one of the story-whore fuckers makes statements that are abominations unto mankind, I´ll be not around to rebuke them in the way they deserve it.

So, you´ll have to make out for a while without me.

Your presence here is made of awesome and win, with extra lashings of keetoms and pie!

"Kill them and take their stuff!"

"No gaming is better than bad gaming!"

"Exalted could totally do this!"

"Meme!"

"Trope!"

"I gamed with Gygax!"

"Pike!"

"*Vibes*"

Have a good one, mate. :D

Tchuß!  Viel Späß!

I think that's right.

ü, Doc!

ü!

The correct use of the ß is admirable, though.

High school German and a crush on an exchange student.

That explains it. There are moments of intimacy between men and women when the ü doesn't matter so long as the ß gets the job done.

Intimacy, hell.  I just fancied her.

Heike Haase.  One of the few blondes I've liked.

OMG, that name is SO German.

And you remembered the double a. Good man. Personally, I find the accent intolerable. My accent, that is. What do US persons ever get out of it? It's probably some kind of Marlene Dietrich effect. Or in my case, Juergen Prochnow.

Get out of it? I've never ever encountered anglos who particularly like the German accent, except for Nazi parody. It's not like we're French, Italian, Spanish or almost anything else ;)

Hey now. Juergen Prochnow's accent in Dune was the height of indecipherable cool when he was shouting at all the tiny ant-dudes in the sand crawler!

 Rock me Amadeus

So begins and ends my knowledge of the German Language

(Wait, that was sung by a German Band, my bad!)  :D

Woops, Austrian.

My bad.  It's been awhile (It's amazing I know who they are, because I am sure most everyone else has forgotten them).

Tell that to the ladies, mon ami. IME a significant percentage of US females is indifferent to Romance language accents but finds German utterly irresistible.

Admittedly, that may be to do with the speaker.

Hmm, maybe Ireland _was_ the wrong place to work at for me...

Well, as I've already got the sexiest accent (scientifically proven) within Germany... ;)

Eh.  It's not like he's really gone, he left us a proxy. (http://www.therpgsite.com/forums/showpost.php?p=108361&postcount=16)

Though at least his proxy is half readable this time.

Well that is a relief.  Now hopefully the empty feeling will go away.

Of course, he will be back.  Sett can't live without us! (or at least without the Pundit)

Me and Setts proxy? For this purpose we clash to often into each other ;) (Last time: Should the GM wield unlimited power and be restricted by hard rules? Or was the clash about plausibility consideration as resolution mechanic after that?)

It's pure coincidence that I've started to post right now during Wowiadwrimo (having got the account since 3 months). Sett didn't ask me to do so.

Well, having sung quite a bit of Bach and such in choir over the years, I find German can be quite beautiful at times. And we had one guy (American, but he'd lived in Germany) in the Bass section to coach on pronunciation, and he could speak it like velvet.

Also, now I think of it, Wim Wenders' "Wings of Desire" in German has an audibule beauty to its hushed, contemplative dialogue throughout the film.

So there, German IS beautiful. It just needs a soft touch. :)

Peace,
-Joel
