Hey -
I am thinking of picking up some of Skeleton Key maps because they look cool. But when I lay my masterpiece dungeon out on to the table, how should I secure these maps? Blue tack (stuff to hold up posters on the wall)? Put a big piece of Velcro on the table and then attach Velcro to each map I print out? Scotch tape?
Any ideas would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Eric
What I've done is use plastic sleeve protectors for my printed out tactical maps. Lay these out on a vinyl battle mat. It isn't as good as gluing them to backing board... but neither is it as cumbersome.
Put it under a sheet of glass or transparent plastic. That way you can also write on it (the plastic, that is) with markers without ruining it.
I have a laminated 2 foot by four foot battle map, that we printed ourselves, but I've never been able to secure it-because we move it around from place to place-but if I had to secure it I'd consider gluing it, or clamping it. As a temporary solution. Eventually I want a table with a dry erase battle map built into it somehow.
For similar problems with paper wargame maps, I use sheets of acrylic (plexiglass). As Pierce says, a bonus is that you can write on them with erasable markers.
[sorry, double post]
Not sure how large those maps you have are, but we used to use a cheap poster frame to hold our battle maps. Cheaper than plexiglass, and we were able to use a grease pencil to draw on them.
