This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I liked them, once a little duct tape and a bunch of house rules where applied to prevent things like getting hill giant "muscle" for the miniscule tradeoff of lowering your carrying capacity and universal clerics that could fight like a fighter and cast wizard spells.

But I like feats, prestige classes, and less need to house rule better.

The spells & magic thingie is pure gold.

Do I need to pick up the Dungeon builderĀ“s Guidebook?

The Deckmastere Adventure generation thing looks terrible, is it worthwhile?
If there can\'t be a TPK against the will of the players it\'s not an RPG.- Pierce Inverarity

Quote from: Caesar SlaadThe joy/contribution/acheivements of each edition are, AFAIAC:
1e) The adventures
2e) The settings (Planescape, Dark Sun, etc.)
3e) The rules (self consistent core system and delicious crunch)

That's actually pretty much how I feel. A good way to sum it up. I wonder what 4e will be known for. Hopefully, not "The PR blogs" :p

And yeah, I too am still a proud user of World Builder's. In fact, it's right next to me as I type.

No.
Despite the fact that it was designed by Richard Borg (of Memoir 44 and Battlelore Fame, and winner of the German Spiel des Jahres award for Bluff a.k.a. Liar's Dice a.k.a. Doubter's Dice)

It is clear that TSR had no vision or plan for this Cardmaster thing, and it shows. A typical filler product, forgotten the moment it had hit the shelves.

(Of this Dungeon Builder's Guidebook I have absolutely no remembrance other than that I've seen the cover and surely must have flipped though it.)
Swords & Wizardry & Manga ... oh my.
(Beware. This is a Kickstarter link.)

As a light hearted card game I'm told it can be quite fun. Theres a Campaign Journal of the game being played that way over on Dragonsfoot.

I can't say it's been of particular use to me, but then, that may be because of my play style.

Oh yeah, I'll echo on Cardmaster: don't bother unless you are a collector. If you are a collector, I could probably part with mine.
