This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I've heard it said, and I can't remember where, that the Streetfighter RPG has a real good combat system. Does anyone have any experience with it?
any thoughts?
Thanks.

I bought it at one point and resold it since.  I know it also had a supplement or two and that White Wolf retooled it for the storyteller series at some point.  Are you wanting to buy it/run it or are you wanting to make another game and rip from the combat system?

You laid down manuever cards in series to reflect combos--kind of a de facto scripted combat system. I thought it was pretty cool, really, for Storyteller.

Yeah, declare speed of maneuver (from the card) and play it. Scripted combat but with no chance of "failure", just your opponent being faster and moving away from you, or hitting first.

That was the end result but (if i remember right) you still had your attributes + fighting style (punch, kick, grab, athletics, chi, block) + particular "move" bonuses to determine speed, damage and move.  You wouldn't whiff per se but like another poster said, the opponent could hit first, move out of the way or block/absorb damage and then hit you back.  You would fill out the cards to save time calculating speed, damage,  and move ratings.
