I'm re-posting this from my blog because I think it's funny, and to see if it generates any ideas over here.

In looking again at FATE, and at how Aspects work, it occured to me that those could be used not just to define a character but also to describe a character. Not a big leap of understaning but a realization nonetheless.

I thought, "You know, if I had a Hyborian Age character with the Aspects 'Zingaran' and 'Duellist', that'd define him and be his stats. Cool," I mused. "Nice."

The very next thought I had, and I kid you not at all, my friends, was --

You can "burn" the instances of the "aspects" to "do" cool "stuff".

I think.  I forget.  Hell, Jeff, the game's free, go getcha some!

The rank of the aspect, IIRC. Per game session you can check each box and get some game play benefits from that (it's been a while, I think it was a re-roll or changing one die directly). Only if the task's related to the aspect, of course.
