Somehow I missed that there's a Jeremiah rpg...

I'm a big fan of the comic book series and is currently searching for the best way to get a version of the tv series here in Region 2-territory.

As I mentioned in some other posts, I'm also planning to run a post apocalypse game inspired by Jeremiah, using Atomic Highway.

Now I saw Kyle and Koltar talk about the Jeremiah rpg in another thread, and would like to hear if it's worth getting? I'm fairly D20-familiar, but it's not my favorite system, so I am mainly considering getting it for the background, ideas and fluff, but if there are any particularly good d20—post apocalypse-rule-tweaks I might be swayed, but I haven't found any reviews of it. So anyone got/read/played it?

I proofed the core rulebook and I don't know if I'd recommend it. It's a fairly generic implementation of d20 into the post-apocalyptic setting.

There was a sourcebook called Thunder Mountain (which I have, but didn't work on) which was also of interest to fans of the show but likely no one else.

It's not a bad game but lacks any qualities that would make it a particularly good one.

I've never understood the point of a Jeremaih RPG. If you are familiar with the source material (and you seem that you are) you should be able to just use whatever PA game that suits your fancy. I don't see anything unique enough about the setting that would require a dedicated game of its own.

Yeah, you are probably right, and I will most likely end up using Atomic Highway, as I had planned all along. It's just hard not to get a little interested, when you discover, that your main inspiration has an entire roleplaying game, rules'n'all, dedicated to it!

I had a copy of the Jeremiah RPG that I picked up cheap somewhere. I don't have it any longer (ebay!). It is ok, with a few class tweaks to suit the setting and a few rule tweaks (with some stuff around obtaining food, new gear and scavenging and so on). The interior art was all b&w stills from the show (which I never actually saw). It didn't really bring enough new things to the d20 system to make it worthwhile - I ran my post apoc game using a heavily modified/simplified Spycraft (1e). I'd go the BoTA/AH route myself now.

That would depend on the License.  Jeremy is fairly mundane any RPG that can handle people walking around and occasionally fighting could do it.  The Matrix for example would require something more.  Which isn't to say you couldn't do it  with your favorite game but it would likely require more effort.

A good licensed game does emulate the license it's based on, so it's ideally as good or better than (generic) your favorite game. Unfortunately, in the real world this doesn't always happen...

For me there is a break point. Under that point and the game is just a variation of an exiting system. Say, a setting book for D&D. You don't need all the rules in the system included. But over that point and you've modified things so much that it ceases to be a variation and becomes something of it's own. For me Jeremiah is the former, not the latter.
