This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Who is the bald guy supposed to be ? Dr. Who?

Why is "Tasha Yar" holding a briefcase?

Why isn't the TOS-era woman wearing a miniskirt?

What era uniform is the Andorian wearing?

Not the first rpg with bad covert art I have bought so not a big issue for me.

If they make it easier to learn and run I may buy it. If it is truly backwards compatible even better.

The cover is an advertisement for the crap that will be inside.
I'm a middle aged guy with a lot of free time, looking for similar, to form a group for regular gaming. You should be chill, non-woke, and have time on your hands.

🤷‍♂️ J'm'en câlice

Sorry but not all of us need to echo the general sentiment of the rest of the posters in this thread.

It's not the perfect system but for me it gets the job done.

I hope they simplify character creation and ship content while minimizing the amount of sourcebooks they rehash. We will see.

I think STA would benefit highly from a traveller-like character creation system where you progress through some life stages/career/training before your character starts adventuring, with options for being outside of starfleet and into things like.. careers in cargo shipping, or the fleet/military of an individual planet (because from what I remember, there's starfleet, but each federation world can also have its own fleet/military), or being from other empires/factions, or being free traders/pirates, or whatever

The old FASA Star Trek game worked this way. You'd randomly see what happens in your Cadet Cruise then roll to see where you ended up. It was all Star Fleet although you could end up in Merchant Marines or Research, or even teaching at the Academy.

Danger

Want to say LUG's run at Trek had a similar "lifepath," sort of thing; it's been a bit since I cracked those books open.
I start from his boots and work my way up. It takes a good half a roll to encompass his jolly round belly alone. Soon, Father Christmas is completely wrapped in clingfilm. It is not quite so good as wrapping Roy but it is enjoyable nonetheless and is certainly a feather in my cap.

STA 1e has a lifepath system, but it's highly Starfleet-specific (or Klingon-specific if you have that book) and consists mostly of set stages and only two random (if you like, or you can select) events per character.

What the game really needs in 2e is a better way to advance characters. Not everyone likes the 1e method of generating characters that barely change (numerically, you can change your narrative "values" more often) over the course of a five-year mission.

I'll pass.   I've been a trekkie most of my life (at least until STD and Picard premiered) but I still kept supporting Modiphius' game after that until they ran a sale to raise money for the BLM bail funds during the height of the riots.

Thanks for the info. Course corrections laid in.

Yep. And the only straight white cis gender man (insert harm here) in the pic might be the guy in the back left... but he isn't Starfleet and looks afraid.

...or on the right in the 'Wrath of Khan'-style uniform....
