This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

RPGNow required me to put M for Mature ratings on all the Year of the Zombie products.

You know, cannabalism, murder, rape, profanity, insanity.

So on went the Rated M warning.
I am becoming more and more hollow, and am not sure how much of the man I was remains.

Quote from: KrakaJakI know White-Wolf had their Black-Dog Gamefactory label. They used it when printing their more "objectionable matieral". I could only see one or two of the books being really considered "more objectionable" than your standard WW fare.

Destiny's Price was a goodie.  Probably the best thing Black Dog did

I definitely liked quite a few of Black Dog's books. There just wasn't a need for it. They weren't really more intense than the White-Wolf WoD books.

Quote from: fonkaygarryI kinda miss the Black Dog Game Factory.  HoL was genius, even my fifteen-year-old-dipshit self could tell that.  Years later I would even lie about having played HoL to earn geek cred.

HOL is the greatest roleplaying game ever written by hand at an IHOP.  I love it.  :)
I have a theory, it could be witches, some evil witches!
Which is ridiculous \'cause witches they were persecuted Wicca good and love the earth and women power and I'll be over here.

Somebody actually _played_ HoL?

Casey777

Heh, just last week someone asked me if I'd played HoL (haven't) and pitched it for a possible pickup. Online mind you. :ponder: WH40K on 11. Sounded fun, never seen the actual game mind.

Tekumel: Empire of the Petal Throne (Jan. 2005) has: "Contains content some readers may find objectionable." on the back cover in small text near the bottom. Dunno if that was required for a Canadian book, for US distrubition, was a decision by GoO or the authors, or what. The art inside is as offensive as a National Geographic (women in a jungle climate ZOMG :boobies: ) and Conan has more graphic text. (shrugs) Guess anthropology texts are objectionable these days. :melodramatic:

Okay, there are a couple of depictions of Ahoggya, which sex I *really* don't want to know. Some people do object to Oscar the Grouch. ;)

As far as I know there'd be no Canadian requirement that the warning label be there.

Actually, at least in America, there is no legal requirement for warning labels on books. Nor for those stupid TV ratings, or the slightly less stupid, but still Dumb movie ratings.  Those are all voluntary 'censorship' to keep the Fed out of it.

I'm not so sure about the warning labels on CD's, I can't remember if Tipper Gore won, or the recording industry saw a great way to increase sales....
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.
