This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

So WoTC has cancelled minis

As a non-native English user, I get to use whichever rule means I didn't make a spelling mistake. :) So I'll take U.S. grammar for 200 Alex.

Another international non-sequitur.  In Australia I don't think we have double jeopardy, as such.

Actually, in Queensland they'll just keep trying you in front of different juries until they get the maximum sentence.

Sorry.  Threadcrapping.  As you were, gentlemen.

Quote from: Doom;354659Here, here...where the *HECK* are the DnD4.0 CRPGs, already. Anyone know if there's some licensing mess keeping it from happening?

No real information there. Atari has the rights (pending the outcome of the current Hasbro/Atari court case) and for whatever reason, there have been no games.

Quote from: pawsplay;354579This is nonsense. Certain molds will not work with certain materials, but most molds will work with more than one material.

Correct.

My company makes class rings with molds virtually identical to the ones used for miniatures (they cast in plastic, and then re-cast in metal).  In fact, I've thought about making some vanity miniatures.

While some molds cannot be used with some materials, you can pretty much always turn any mold into any other kind of mold, so that you can make it using any material with some added effort.

I thought that casting with certain materials will reduce the life-expectancy of a mold more than others.  I'm sure they have their original sculpts though... and they could make multiple molds from those for various types of casting.

It's interesting that they're putting out D&D HeroScape sets. I think those will be popular with kids. :)

I'm surprised this big news isn't being picked up by any other discussion boards.

Perhaps they're not familiar with the reliability of the "some guy I know" source.

Thanks for the link. Mike's blog isn't part of my usual reading list.

Wow, that's like listening to a cat give itself a bath.

"If you do like combat, though, then game balance is very important."

This claim directly contradicts my experience.  I run games that are very fight heavy and I rarely have reason to worry about game balance.

We should fork a new thread if we are going to begin discussing Mearls treating his personal prejudices as if they were divine pronouncements.

Well, since what "some guy I know" told me was right, I don't see what your point is.

Is he?

There has been no formal announcement of these having been cancelled.

Miniature Market and Paizo just started soliciting pre-orders for "Streets of Shadow", so apparently, "some guy you know" gets to find out before major distributors such as Alliance.

My point is that we don't have confirmation. We have what one guy said. I'd suggest we wait until we actually know something before announcing that D&D minis have been cancelled. There's evidence to the contrary, as pointed out a few times in this thread.
