So last nights D&D game was interesting

So the weekly D&D 5e game I run on Saturday Nights is now a bi-weekly Friday night game.

It works because I had a couple people have to drop out due to real life issues and Saturday Nights was really hard to recruit new people.   So we agreed to move it Bi-Weekly.  Gives me more time to prepare and it turns out it is much easier to recruit people.

So last night we got together to play,  One of my players brought his daughter to play and I had already given the nod to join to another person to join so my group is now up to 7 players.  One more than I like but I was able to manage it.

We are still playing currently at that grocery store I mentioned in an earlier post.  Well we had to stop because there was a girl there who was choking.  one of my new player (a guy) got up and give her the Heimlich maneuver and saved her from choking.  Which was a fantastic thing.  Got a little stressful since she was latterly 10 to 15 feet away from us.

She was taken to the back since she was an employee and I guess they made sure she was ok.

So we go back to playing and a few minutes an employee came out and walked to our table.  We all thought at first that she was going to say something about us being there, although we get our food and drinks from there so we are not freeloading.

Nope instead she thanked the player for helping with the choking girl and said "it's really cool you are playing D&D here"

Kind of a cool ending for the night.

That's neat. Not gonna lie, I thought you were going to say that she came over to scream at the guy who saved the girl for touching her without her permission. Because 2023. Kudos to her for not being a crazy feminist.

Hadn't thought about that until you mentioned it.  Of course if that had happened I would have told him that if it happens again just ignore them.  It's cruel but hey, who needs the hassles.

Though I think if the police were called with all of the witnesses nothing would have happened because he did save her life and if she sued I would like to see her be ungrateful in court when she describes what happened to the jury.

It wouldn't go the way she wanted.

I think the SJW wave is starting to really die down.  And good riddens.

In the real world, insane SJWs are a tiny minority and always have been. The internet makes it seem like there's more of them than there actually are because 1) the really crazy ones are very active and vocal online, and 2) a lot of people  act much more SJW-like on the internet than they are in real life. In the real world, with real shit at stake (such as possibly choking to death), 99.9% of people will suddenly drop whatever performative ideology they think they believe in when they're sitting comfortably at their computer.
Playing: Mongoose Traveller 2e
Running: Dolmenwood
Planning: Warlock!, Savage Worlds (Lankhmar and Flash Gordon), Kogarashi

A) that's an amazing story. And a cool place to play.

B) I think we need more: Last nights game was interesting threads/posts in general!

You are right.  They are keyboard tough guys and when they are hiding behind their computers.   When they are in person they are quiet as a mouse.

Luckily the SJW's have little actual influence and it's becoming less and less every day.

Great.  Glad you like it.  The seating area is left over from the pre-covid days where they used to have buffets that people could fill containers with food and eat.  Because of covid they got rid of the buffets but not the seating area so it's pretty quiet where we play.

If you start seeing Leftists getting shitcanned and blacklisted from industries, that'd show the tide turning. Normal fluctuations in ambient levels of REEEEE screeching that oscillate on a 4-yr cycle don't evidence a sea change.

Yes that's true.  But the fact that they are not being listen to as much means the tide is changing a bit.  Not fast enough but some is better then no.

Awesome! Sounds like you got a great group!

You play in a grocery store?

Yes, it's a large grocery store that used to have buffets where people could buy food and then sit in the seating area to eat.

Covid killed the buffets (and the in store restaurant which is still there but empty) but the seating is still there.

There is plenty of food to eat (Pizza, sandwiches, etc.) and drinks and it is pretty quiet.  We used to play in a game store but the open area was WAY too loud to hear what was being said and the private room (which was small and we couldn't always get) even though we would cost $125 a month.

So this turned out to be a better option.  I am looking into other options but for right now, this situation works.

Yeah I really do.  A lot of fun players who make the game enjoyable (and lots of laughs).

I'm curious how playing in a grocery store works and haven't been able to find the other post you mentioned. Any chance you could provide the thread title or a link or recap or something?

I've grown to like gaming at my local gaming pub/store. No one has to do host duties and cleanup. It does have the noise issue and private room is a coin toss on whether it's available or not.
The one I go to doesn't charge anything though. We buy snacks and booze to give them some business when we use the space.

Sounds like you've found a pretty good venue there.
