This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Anyone ever use it?

I haven't, but I feel your pain.

I planned on buying a copy off of Amazon before realizing that it was $150 at its cheapest (used, even!).

I heard lots of good things about it.  It's kind of a Hogwarts-lite setting, with a well-detailed faculty, students, magical classes, and popular sports and campus traditions.

Some of the sample adventures I saw looked interesting and offbeat.

Some free stuff here.  Check it out.

As for d20 sourcebooks I like, I really enjoyed Tome of Battle.  I like how it gave melee guys a bunch of interesting and unique abilities beyond "I attack, I charge and attack, I full attack, etc."

I also loved the Magic Item Compendium.  Really helped me diversify the loot I handed out to PCs, and they enjoyed a lot of the stuff I gave them (hello, Healing Belt!).

I'm a big fan of 2nd Edition Mutants & Masterminds by Green Ronin.  I know it's more of a d20 spin-off, but it takes a lot of the mechanics and is the best superhero RPG that I've played.

I really enjoyed the Traps & Treachery books (I and II) by Fantasy Flight Games, and the d20 adaption of Grimtooth's Traps by Necromancer Games (The Wurst of Grimtooth's Traps).  Very neat and ingenious designs.

It's going for $11 on Amazon in the U.S.
