This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Today, as I was out shopping with a friend, I stopped at a small FLGS.  It's an old-school place, full of books and boxes from ages and companies long forgotten.

Want Judge Dredd, the RPG?  Fortress America?  Deities and Demigods?  Step right up.

There are larger shops in town; packed to busting with new products and acres of floorspace.  Without a doubt they have cleaner bathrooms.

I couldn't grab a copy of Slaves to Darkness for $20 at any one of them.

Let's hear it for the little guy retailer: the one who sells more third-hand Gear Krieg and Transhuman Space than Magic.  There's got to be one that has a warm place in your heart.

I'm off to read my new purchase. :)

Alas, as far as I know, our city has no such places... only glizty ones with poor customer service.

I love my small FLGS.  He's got his cast of regulars, most of them a perfect example of one geek archetype or another, and it's always fun to come in an know you can start a conversation about JSA, Batman vs. Predator, upcoming Franchise Movie _______________, D&D, that game 4 people played back in 1987 (but still run a fan site for), or The Way Gaming Used To Be.  I also appreciate the fact he's set aside as much of his store as he can to be gaming tables--CCGs, RPGs, board games, Clix, whatever--and few are the times I go in there that there isn't a game being played.
