This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Crystal dice.

They look a bit New Agey and plastic neolithic for my tastes. I will stick to my tetrahedrons.

They're also absurdly expensive.  This really is bling for gamers.

This whole Thug Life thing really is starting to get out of control.

In my day we had to make our own dice out of wood or Fimo.

Sadly, that's not a joke.

Buying lots of dice is vital to The Hobby - we need to be supporting the dice industry or it's back to wood and Fimo.

I am led to believe that Exalted was in fact created under pressure from the Dice Manufacturers Association. My sources also inform me that they will be pushing for more sneak attack dice per level for rogues in (upcoming but so far top sekrit) D&D 4e. Also, they will be d5s.

Death to dice pools!  Hurrah for two dice at most!

Don't blame me if you wind up at the bottom of a river with huge, stone d20s in your pockets. "The Metropolitan Police's special RPG crime squad said that the dice had been turned to 1s as a warning to other gamers."

I had not seen the crystal dice before. So I went and looked at them online. Wow, I would never use them. The 12's, and 20's lok like they have the potential to roll right off the table. I'll pass on this gimmick.

Some peeps have said the d4 versions of these work better, without the dreaded caltrop effect. Those might be worth looking at.

Quote from: el diablo roboticoThey're not exactly new either. I've had some for, lemme think... three or four years.

Goldarnit!  I've been using the same kind of dice since the year of Our Lord nineteen-hundred and eighty two!  These here cystal dice are sure new-fangled to me!

One of the players in my old Dragonstar campaign used one of the d20s, and it would pretty frequently roll off the table.  It didn't really bother me (this was the same campaign that led to my standing "put the d100 in your mouth and I punch you in the face" houserule), but it seemed a bit silly to keep using them.

I've never seen them has anybody got a link?
