This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: SHARK;1087737Greetings!

That's right, my friend! Wear that cool hat!

Googling indicates it's a "Barbour Waxed Sports Hat" - and that the £35 I paid was about £13 more than the going rate online - but of course in the store I got to try it on first.

Awesome hat for marching the kid to school of a morning (3.2 mile round trip for me). Fits really well, keeps the rain off (with the waxing it just rolls off), very comfy. Much better than trying to lug an umbrella around.

In order not to get banned for straying off topic, may I suggest it would be a great quest Maguffin for a modern action or zombie horror game? :D

Quote from: ArrozConLeche;1087700I guess you could sum it up as 'male nerd shaming.' Awkward nerd boys take up D&D, and for decades there was stigma around it. Suddenly it's popular now since I guess that the visible people now are more telegenic. If masses of male nerds all of a sudden showed interest in, say, poker, I'm pretty sure that would become stigmatized too.

For that matter, I'm sure that basement dwelling is not stigmatized because of the basement dwelling, but because of who's dwelling in it.

Masses of male nerds show up pretty regularly in poker. I played in a high-level, for me ($600 entry) in upstate New York and three of us talked about gaming on every break during day two. And this was before the recent resurgence of D&D.

OK. I wasn't aware poker was regarded as a nerd past time. That's interesting.

My understanding is that poker is where a bunch of M:tG champions went after besting M:tG competitions.

Where o where is the tallyboard for male feminists vs. non-feminists in the gaming industry doing this stuff? I lost the count!

Razor 007

Can you imagine the shitstorm his life is right now?  From superstar-wannabe, to oh shit they are publicly shaming me to death.  Every time he wakes up, his first thought is, oh shit.
I need you to roll a perception check.....

Projared works for Wizards of the Coast. He's a celebrity employee of WoTC.

And yet the same people who were demanding that WoTC denounce my very existence and call for me to be driven out of the hobby are now downplaying the fact that a radical SJW hard-left employee turned out to be a piece of shit... again.

Never heard of him, but then I am happily out of touch. So he was some kind of big deal superfan. Figures.

It's not only in tabletop. There's a Hugo Schwyzer in every rabid, preachy male feminist.

Heh, Schwyzer.  Guy spends his whole academic career a medieval historian then starts teaching Gender Studies classes.  Sounds legit.
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Yes, Sean Connery\'s thumb does indeed do megadamage. - Spinachcat

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

Yeah but I'm trying to keep it gaming related!

So you're saying he has more academic credentials than an above average gender studies prof?

In that case, it comes under the laws of the land bit and he should be treated accordingly.
