Probably closer to an alternate to GURPS.  Every time I've started out on that journey, I've come to the conclusion that the usefulness of GURPS is in its standardized descriptive language.  The problem then is that you can't just rename everything and fiddle with the arrangement a bit.

I saw the announcement on SJGames website and it doesn't say much about what she will be doing or if she is replacing anyone. Contrary to most of this here website, I like GURPS. (And it is quite funny that in my various attempts to make one game or the other more to my taste, I often ended up going the GURPS way until I would realise I should just play GURPS. It just clicks with me.) But it is like Koltar said, probably all GURPS books one needs were already published. Sean Punch being the entire GURPS team at SJG for the last 20 years, fighting to get a few more sourcebooks out, was just sad. Now Steve Jackson should just retire to San Francisco and let the company die.

But having said that, 5e and Powered By The Apocalypse are the prime examples of learn-it-then-nothing-else, with all their shit-tier no-effort 3rd party adventure and setting books.

I LOVE GM-ing and playing 'GURPS'  - and I am in no way "woke".

Its best not to assume somedthing about a whole group of p[eople,...or gamers.

Hell just 5 to 6 years ago I saw people assuming that fans of SJG and GURPS were all extremist Libertarians or conservative right-wingers...

Yeah theres been this recurring undercurrent with gurps for a long long time with some fans being really unpleasant. But nothing compared to the psychopathic fans of 4e D&D.

Can you explain more about why? I've been working on an Alt-Gurps project, and I've encountered some problems as well. Mostly features I don't like. Deleting stuff is relatively easy.
