This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Anyone heard much about AetherCon?

I signed up for their Bell and Scroll program to promote them via my blog, but I'm not posting this so much to push their con as I am to see if anyone else was planning on "attending", as a publisher, a vendor or an attendee (and I'm not an official rep, just someone who thinks it's cool).

Seeing as how I'm almost always attending cons working a table, and gaming cons are always a good ways away from me, I'm intrigued by the idea of a virtual con. Looks like there's lots of games and game systems being represented.

I dunno...is a virtual Con too odd for everybody here? Or potentially intriguing? (I also have issues, say, trying to game with people I don't really "know", so that holds me back, too).

Actually, I'll be running a D6 Star Wars game on two afternoons. Just need to write & test the adventure first. Don't tell anyone, but working title is Lord Vader's Robber Barons
Obvious troll is obvious. RIP, Bill.

I'm running _Labyrinth Lord_ for two sessions, Tommy (it's on the schedule as "The Hungry Giant").

I totally get the whole "mmmmyeah I dunno if I wanna play with strangers for the first time using some tool in the interwebs".  It's understandable.  I really hesitated to get involved in G+ Hangout online gaming at first, but I'm glad I did.  Had a ton of fun so far.

You may want to consider getting your feet wet with an online game prior to the con if you're worried about freezing up or anything (I know I was - "I swear I'm fun in person!").

My main concern now re Aethercon is getting my ass up to speed on Roll20, and prepping 'stuff' that'll go nicely with that venue, as my usual online game is pretty no-frills other than dropping links to NPC pics and stuff.

"Well worth reading."  -- Steve Winter

"...seriously nifty stuff..." -- Bruce Baugh

"[Erik is] the Carrot-Top of role-playing games." -- Jared Sorensen, who probably meant it as an insult, but screw that guy.

Awesome to hear from the both of ya!

I've been approached about GMing, but obviously I need to get past the nerves first before I could consider that. Seems Savage Worlds GMs are in short supply, at least among the circles the con organizers travel in.

I've DONE online games before...just always with people I was familiar with beforehand...=/
