This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

What would you use to run Merlin ?

Ghost Whistler

Quote from: RPGPundit;418679No, its a guy named Merlin, who's also kind of a wizard.  Otherwise, it bears no resemblance to the Merlin of historical legend.
And that's the tragedy, the story of the youth and rise to grandeur of the original Merlin would have been so much more interesting.

RPGPundit
There's no tragedy.
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

Ian Warner

It also ignores that Merlin started as a warrior but gave up fighting after a particularly fierce battle drove him mad.

At least in the Welsh tradition anyway.

It is a BBC Wales production you would have thought they were aware of that.

Oh I do like how the language used for Magic is Welsh not Latin. I never got why Latin would be used. Especially as its the language of the anti-magic Catholic Church.

It is also the language scholars use to communicate. So it is quite understandable when people thought sorcery was done in latin, after all the line between sorceror and scholar is blurry at times.
