This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Should there be better tracking of Crowdfunding info?

Quote from: jux;891686Sorry for offtopic, but am I the only one that likes when General RPGs and D20 D&D topics would be separated into different sections?

RPG.net's D20 Ghetto? That got weird when non-D&D D20 non-fantasy games were shoved there, like SWN got shoved there, but I could have Mazes & Minotaurs threads in the main forum.

I actually think ENworld had an interesting system by tagging the threads, so if you just wanted to see 3e or 4e threads or General threads or GenCon threads, you could click and isolate those.

I think their system works because technically there isn't a "main" forum, unless you are talking about the forum for the current edition.

Quote from: jux;891734Yes I notice and this is exactly what is annoying to me. Most of the dnd topics are actually not about RPGs, but rather game specific talk. But I understand how this forum has long history and it's userbase us used to this.

This forum has really nice software and an adept seeming admin, that's it's strongpoints. That said, there isn't a reason anybody couldn't post about other games, it is just the same old story that there might not be too many replies. However, there are a manageable amount of users here, so the signal to noise ratio is low. As an incessant organizer, I'd probably split out the different game types into sub-forums at least, though with how it is going here, I don't think there is a problem.

Still too many stickies at the top though.

Quote from: Itachi;891735I prefer the opposite – a single forum called simply "Games", joining Roleplaying games, D&D games, Storygames, Boardgames, Videogames, etc. in the same place. :)

I am against combining forums simply because of the vitriolic/diatribe-laden relationships between some of these groups.

And for those of with preferences, having these topics separated makes life easier. I don't think I've ever been into the storygame or boardgame or videogame forum here.

Any kind of record would be helpful.  I generally like knowing about RPG KSers, but I often find out too late.

So you don't see people advertising a KS being out as an advert?  (No snark, just wanting clarification.)

To me, it depends a lot on how they do it.

Here's the thing: I think there's legitimate interest among our users in hearing about KS projects for RPGs.  People want to have information, they want to be able to discuss it, and it's great if game designers come on here to talk about their games and upcoming projects, be they KS or others.

On the other hand, we don't want the forum to get swamped with low information posts that amount to trying to garner free publicity and begging people to back their KS projects.

So I guess to me, the difference is whether the thread in question feels like an invitation to actually engage in discussion or if it feels more like a low-effort ad.  That's why I've shut down a few threads of people making publicity for their KSes, but allowed a lot of others.

Fair enough.  That's all I was curious about.
