Somehow Shatterzone fell off my radar whenever it was published. I never played it, nor has any of my gaming group. Wikipedia's entry sounds like a cross between Star Wars and Shadowrun which could be fun.
If you read the books or played the game, I'd love to know if it is worth a purchase. Was it D6? Is the setting interesting enough to port over to Savage Worlds? Is it crap, shiny crap or a lost gem?

I very much liked the ad blurbs that came with the announcements, I liked the basic idea of the setting, but I completely disliked the published game. It felt soulless.
It was a Masterbook game, a universal rewrite of the engine that powered TORG.
Shatterzone was pretty cool. It was based on the TORG system, and it rocked.
I have a copy tucked away somewhere. I don't think i ever got to play it, but i have an urge to dig it out and re-read it now!
I ran a Shatterzone campaign for about eight months years and years ago. I thought it was lots of fun, and I have a great fondness for the Torg system. Most of the supplements are shite, except for the Fleet handbook, which was good stuff. The main game is well worth picking up.
It used two d10s and a chart for task resolution, and a drama deck to add flavor. The drama deck literally had a "shit hits the fan" card, which I think is awesome.
It's a good, solid game. uses logarhythmic scaling; for some that's an issue.
Drama deck is different from TORG and Masterbook, but only slightly.
Setting materials often incoherent, but the system runs really well.
One can get as much out of TORG, wih the Space Gods book, as from Shatterzone.
Unquestionably, it's worth an ebay search.
I ran a short campaign(8 or 9 months) back in the early '90s. My reaction: Meh...
It was interesting to a point, but to me Traveller was so much better as a Sci Fi/Space Travel game. In fact I've been looking at the Mongoose Version and I'm really liking it...
It is an okay game. Only get it off ebay if it is fairly cheap IMO. While it has some gret ideas, most are less than great.

Traveller has a lot better elements for merchantile focused games. And while my name is on the credits page twice, I'm not very fond of MGT as released.
About the only thing that Shatterzone does better than Torg proper is ship design.
And Torg will give you all those other settings as well.

Yea, saw your name in the book.
Guess it's just a matter of taste but I never liked Shatterzone as a whole, yea, a couple of interesting ideas but nothing that I'm going to spend money on, again...

I never played it, but that was my reaction reading it and regarding the setting.
