This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

If it simplifies the system I will probably buy it. Though wait and see to make sure it is both edited properly and no binding issues like 5E had.

So, 7E out in time for Christmas?

Seems a bit uncharitable, there.   It has been 16 years since 5th was launched, they aren't exactly on a Games Workshop edition mill.

krythi's joke was fine. Shadowrun 5E came out in 2013 (before that 4E, 2000 and 4E Anniversary, 2009).

Shadowrun was always my goto game until 5e... I will live in hope that 6e will rekindle my interest once again.

Sorry, 6 years.  Phone post, feel sheepish.  Still, not a particular treadmill. Especially with large gaps between 4th and 5th.

Maybe the 6th time around I'll get into this world again.

Close enough to the damn "five year plan" to make one potentially suspicious of the longevity of a 6th ed.

Theory of Games

Wow. Already? Did the rules-light versions (Anarchy, The Veil, and other games I can't remember) have an impact?

I miss SR4. I thought it did the 6th World well. I ran something that didn't survive the first adventure due to RL, but, I'm very interested in what 6E will bring.

Wish List? Streamline combat into something --- more "intuitive"??? I'll admit I reference the books way too much when running games because I don't trust my Mandela Effect (I've been accidentally creating house-rules as a mirco-hobby when I don't fact-check rules). SR combat is the nice, but making it more "elegant" would be good, IMO.

Keep the grocery store: I love players pushing their shopping carts through the books selecting THAT RIGHT combination of enhancements, skills, and gear that's the rage of the modern Chummer. Shopping is part of our consumerist culture (shrug) and IMO a fun microgame that nearly makes the macro.

Decking is allegedly easier. Spell Force is gone? Hm. Hm again. Drain is more costly aka caster-nerf. I hear people screaming --- already.

No playtest? But, LOL --- imagine a SR playtest. Yes, there should be a playtest. SR is a game where min-maxing is not the exception. It would be fun if SR gamers could have a say. Then we all could agree in unison that everything cost way too much ¥. Way too much.

Plus, modern tech has caught up with the 6th World. Our cars drive themselves (nearly almost). So make vehicles that do the autopilot thing as default. And make door-mounted grenade-launchers less expensive.

I can imagine some form of "Backgrounds" will be added since that's a thing in design now. Probably will affect how much ¥ you start with. Latent (read: FREE) contacts would be interesting.

ooooo and maybe gender'll be a thing, because ---
TTRPGs are just games. Friends are forever.

I remember playing 2E Shadowrun BITD. Great setting. Horrible rules.

Don't worry, I'm sure we can expect the same with 6E.

If they keep their preachy politics out of the writing and stop splitting splats between hard copy and ebook?

It'll be a start.

1e had horrible rules. 2e I thought was very playable.

Much like the D6 system, it was hurt because gamers can't add up a handful of d6 dice, so they had to move to a count success system (like WEG did with Hercules/Xena)

My first experience with the Shadowrun RPG was, before my DnD game, seeing a session start with the Shadowrun party fighting a biker gang and then coming back after my DnD game finished and the same fight was still going on.  I am not certain if the non-wired characters had even had a chance to act yet.

On the other hand I think I have read just about every Shadowrun novel.

So, yeah Shadowrun!

I would consider getting this.
Post reviews of course and checking to ensure no political agenda etc.

Great setting tho. Hated the old mechanics.
