As others have posted, add the weird and dark back in if you want. This is a game fundamentally about creativity, and we often use writings of others as a starting point, not the ending. Personally I love all the detail and imagination in Dolmenwood, and where I want to make things weird and dark, I can easily take that extra step. But having so much solid work done really helps with prep and entertaining my table.

Pretty hard to do since the wormskin zines aren't avilable anymore. the article mentions a 4chan doc that put them back in but I couldn't find it. B acked the KS based on what I've heard about WS and the patreon content and it's pretty disappointing. when I asked about it on the Dolmenwood discord channel, people seemed pretty combative and said the creator doesn't read there. Also, if I pay for a setting, it's usually because I don't want to do much work and a heads up would be nice, preferably before backing.

Overall, with the wildly different art art and those changes, I wouldn't have backed at a physycal tier.

Damn, I could have wrote this word for word.

It will likely go into a box after a read not to be touched.

So disappointed with the kickstarter after what I had heard and read about the setting online.

I think it's salvagable (or at least I hope)

But I agree, it went from "can't wait to wrap my current campaign up to play this" to "eh, let's see how it develops, maybe the community will fill in the dark stuff and then I 'll play it"

But I still want that niche filled, so I'll take Midderlands and perhaps plop Brechewold somewhere around it.

you can read the co-creator of WS in the comments of the article, seems pretty clear that even though he doesn't want to say negative stuff, "creative differences" were present and it's probably why he left (at least that's my read of it). Wish I knew it beforehand. Would happily back his version, even if it's smaller

Yes, I only judge from other articles. I've seen videos about Wormskin, but I don't have it so I can't compare. And my Dolmenwood game hasn't started yet. I guess I'll play and see how it goes on.
