This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I've played a few sessions using Under the Moons of Zoon and it's proper mint, the best S+P game I've played since Skyrealms of Jorune (with a GM-friendlier system than Tales of Garghentir) I like 'toolkit' settings where there's just enough description but it's not overwhelming.

weird science, psionics, beast men, flying lizard mounts, it's cushty !

What are your favourite S+P settings and why ?

I really enjoyed reading through Under the Moons of Zoon as well...seems like it would be very easy to dive in and play. Another setting I'd like to haul out one day is GURPS Planet of Adventure. A well-written book which captures the flavour of the original.

I wonder why S&P is such an under-used genre?
You can shake your fists at the sky. You can do a rain dance. You can ignore the clouds completely. But none of them move the clouds.

I've never run or played a Sword & Planet game, but I often thought about making my own setting for one.  It would assuredly be a cheap ripoff of Barsoom, but it would be my cheap ripoff of Barsoom.

The direct link at the top of the thread doesn't work for me, but if I start at http://artikid.altervista.org/ then click on What, I can get to the game.

Would Space: 1889 qualify as "S&P"?  I've always had a warm spot in my heart for that game.

And, Under the Moons of Zoon was a nifty read, though I haven't seriously thought of putting it into play.
