This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Just got word that Stewart passed away. My deepest condolences go to his family and friends. He'll be missed.

I really enjoyed White Wolf Magazine back in the late '80s. It came around just as Dragon and White Dwarf became house organs. He went on to do a lot more after that, but it is my first association with him. That is pretty rough news.

Godspeed Stewart. May you have an eternity of adventures in the Summerlands.

Got the news in a Kickstarter update. Just awful. Condolences to his nearest and dearest.
Here for gaming, not drama.

Yes. White Wolf magazine, in the pre-vampire era, was really very good.

Hell, Vampire itself was really very good in the pre-Achilli era. I know you don't care much for Vampire at all, but I sort of liked early Vampire and Werewolf. Also, White Wolf's Street Fighter RPG was fucking boss.

Shame that such a great company and a great setting fell to such low depths.

Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Yes, Sean Connery\'s thumb does indeed do megadamage. - Spinachcat

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

Yeah Sammy... this isn't one of those kinds of threads. I'm acknowledging the passing of someone that has made great contributions to this hobby of ours. People may not have found his games to be their cup of tea, but the Wieck Bros. are part of our tribe and have more than earned their place in the canon.

If you stop and think about it, we who do this "thing" in relative obscurity, this hobby is a thing of passion. I recognize that even people's tribalist screeds against whatever flavor of gaming are fueled by that passion. I recognize it. But I also recognize it's because of that passion that a few of us gamers stand up and try to create and contribute in what is generally a financial waste of time, but we do it because we *love* this hobby. Those that have passed while making those contributions deserve to be acknowledged. And that's what matters.

On a personal note, Stewart was one of the first guys in the business (as such, circa 1991) that gave me the wild haired idea of getting into game-development in a chance correspondence. We talked about doing a World of Darkness project that ultimately fell through for various reasons. But his energy and passion for our hobby left a big impression on me. Still does... even as one of his last projects happens to be one I worked on. I'm honored to have known him, and more honored to have gotten a chance to work with him.

I apologize if I was off-topic, I don't mean to be disrespectful. I was just replying to Pundit.

No worries brother, you're not kicked out of the tribe. That's hard to accomplish once you're in. :)

... but it IS possible.
