Title: Sensitivity readers all over ‘The Making of Original Dungeons and Dragons’
Post by: DocJones on May 31, 2024, 02:45:53 PM
New DnD book reviews old language with inclusivity consultants (https://www.wargamer.com/dnd/history-book-inclusivity-consultants)

QuoteDuring the press event, Wizards of the Coast was asked how this new DnD book planned to tackle the more problematic side of RPG history. To this, Tondro says "we do address this stuff in the book directly". One example Tondro shares is "a parenthetical comment that's a dig at Women's Lib", a feminist political movement that pushed for equality for women. "We hired inclusivity consultants because we wanted to know what we were in for, and we wanted to call it out", Tondro explains.

In full sincerity, this seems like an outrage article to drive attention.

Hate reading, and hate watching, and hate attention are still the same thing as attention.

What kills a a political movement, revolution, product of activism more than hate?  apathy, resounding, deafening apathy, these slimy bell-crawling monosyllabic morons don't even deserve our attention let alone our hate.

This is not to say these people should be unopposed, but reasoning and words and making scenes only emboldens them, hating the new woke marvel movies isn't what killed them, nor Star Wars, its that nobody watched them, that's what killed them.

Quote"Everyone," she said, "thinks that hate and love are somehow opposite forces. They are not. They are the same force, facing opposite directions." She glanced aside at me. "Love is a fire, my Knight. Love turned the wrong way has killed as many as hate. Reason, young wizard, is the opposite of hate, not love."

Apparently there's a better version out there from the same author without all the Censorship.  It's a bit older from what I read on Tenkar's video. Can't seem to find it.

They are really ramping up the hate campaign.

Two points. First, I'd never buy anything from Wotc. Two, fuck sensitivity readers.

Carry on.

Welp, it's WOTC. They have a track record of doing bullshit. Any company hiring diversity readers should rot in Hell.

I second this emotion.  Since I am trying to dump 5e totally (my group wont try a different system) I am no longer buying books from them and I am using what I have already.  Once my 5e game finally dies I am going to sell (or give away if I have to) my 5e books to get everything WOTC out of my collection.

If you want to totally be done with your books and you have a social media account, a good ol' book burning video is always fun for clicks.  I'd join you in solidarity, but I divested myself of WotC products over a decade ago.

Would prefer if I could get some money back from them although they have been used enough where I have really gotten my monies worth from them.

Also, if someone is buying the books from me, the WOTC isn't getting more money.

Not trying to create cross forum drama, but expressing my annoyance at these woke kids in a "Get Off My Lawn" manner.

Quote from: Concern Troll on Facebook OSR GroupWhy are so many people in this group offended by this sort of thing? It's a nonfiction book. Tons of different people are consulted. This isn't the same as watching an old movie, as you said in your video. It's a modern product that discusses an old product. It was expressly created to provide commentary. Providing historical context is pretty standard for something like this.
Quote from: My ReplyMr Concern Troll, I don't need historical context. I was there when it happened.

With new books coming out soon, not sure how many people that would actually buy WOTC books, would buy books that were about to be replaced by the next iteration on the WOTC treadmill.

I want WotC to hire sensitivity writers.  For every employee WotC has, they should have three sensitivity readers including one of them standing over their backs telling them what they are allowed to write.  We will be able to get rid of WotC in a few years then.  Let WotC die the way all communists die, of starvation.  There will no bread from players to be fed to WotC because WotC does no work.  Wotc is living of the fat that Mearls left behind, and there isn't much fat to feed the communist WotC.  Let Wotc die, forget about the past as the fucktards like to say.
