This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

A lot of people might be interested in the idea of Living Campaigns but for whatever reason, they don't want to get involved in their region. Also, Living Greyhawk is on it's way out. It's "not dead yet", as they say. But it's close.

Anyhow, I stumbled over this:

This is an independently managed living campaign that is only just now being set up by the guys who currently manage the Spycraft line. This is going to use the 'Spycraft 2.0 rules with an additional set of rules called FantasyCraft. I really liked the worldbook teaser. In most cases I'd just as soon play D&D 3.5 and not worry about it, but I thought this kinda looked like fun. One of the interesting guidelines for these events is the recommendation to play with no rulebooks at the table. I thought that was interesting.

A few people on the Fear the Boot forums have been discussing the possibility of a FtB "living" game, possibly using the Savage Worlds rules in a generic fantasy setting. It's mostly just tossing out ideas at this stage, but the interesting part is the growing dissatisfaction a lot of people have with the way the RPGA living games are run.

I discovered there's a living version of the Blackmoor campaign.  In fact as far as I can tell, it's the only form in which it survives.  I had a hell of a time finding the D20 version for sale even.

Could a Living Campaign thing be done with the TRAVELLER universe setting ?

I've never been a member of the RPGA - so I'm not sure how all these living campaign things work. Have gotten more of an idea because anopther local game store hosts local RPGA  games and events.

Does WotC have any copyright on the use of the term Living Campaign - or could any company of group of people use it ?

Nah, that's been discussed in the Living Greyhawk Yahoo Group ( I have to catch up on my reading!), but WotC couldn't copyright a term like Living...in fact IIRC they weren't the ones who came up with it.

When my forum goes live, I'm creating Dunfalcon - and a Living Campaign to go with it...
