This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Hey, what was all that crap a few months ago about how gamers should all be convulsed with self loathing over their geekiness? This is pretty darn cool.

Whoever said that should be smacked.  One of the biggest problems with pop culture right now is insecure jackasses who say crap like that.

That's the kind of talk that leads to spiky Optimus Prime and the new BSG.

So what you're saying is that we should all just do our geektastic tang like it ain't no -- uh, no thang, and, uh...

...umn...  okay, I'm not very street.  Let me try --

So what you're saying is that we should just do what we do and love what we love and if Crom does not listen, then to hell with him?

'Cause that's I do.  I got pictures of Dave Arneson and Gary Gygax on my cubicle at work, even.  I leave dice out where people can see 'em, I don't care.

I mean, fuck!  If someone can put up pictures of some wifebeater-and-cowboy-hat-wearin'  twang-singer and it's no big deal, why not Hellboy pin-ups?  At least Hellboy looks cool.  And how many Nazis has Tim McGraw punched in the face?

That's RIGHT.  NONE.

I think it was Levi who mentioned that he kept a miniature on his monitor at work. (Or maybe he was talking about a coworker..).

I thought that was very cool, so I did something similar- my "signifier" was a really pretty sparkly d20 that I had. I just put it on the little shelf in my cubicle at work. I've had nothing but positive comments about it.

Here's another strange of story:

On our (office) network people have 'profile pages' set up where you have like your contact info, and often some other stuff like "about me", or where you are located, or whatever.  The other day, I was looking for people to set up a class for, and I ran across this one girl's page, and it had : "Scheduled Leave: August 15-19th: GenCon"
She also had dates blocked out for DragonCon and Star Wars Celebration.

So that was kinda cool.

Being into gaming really shouldn't have any more stigma than being a fan of a baseball team. Heck, depending on the baseball team, it might have less.
