This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

RPGPundit Declares Victory: TheRPGsite will thus obviously remain open

Quote from: Seanchai;414505Instead what I got threatened with banning for...what was that again? Breaking one of the few rules? No, that's right, saying something you didn't like.

Seanchai

No.. you got banned for saying something that was patently untrue, over and over and over again as part of a concerted effort to spread a smear campaign in opposition to my very presence on this site.  In other words, only a step or two below what Cylonophile was doing with Koltar.

And your banning itself was in the form of an instructional demonstration to all of logical proof of how your statement was a lie.

How many times was that "over and over and over again"? Three? Four? In one thread? That's a "concerted effort" and a "smear campaign"?

Face it: I said something you really didn't like (the truth stings and all that) and you lost your temper and banned me.

There's no concerted effort - I've never spoken to anyone about your policies save out here in the open - and there's no campaign. You've seen everything I've ever said about you - where are the "Let's gang up and get Pundit!" messages? Moreover, I don't start threads about your moderation practices nor do I pop into threads to discuss them out of the blue.

Quote from: RPGPundit;414561And your banning itself was in the form of an instructional demonstration to all of logical proof of how your statement was a lie.

Yeah. Banning folks to prove a point is a good way to demonstrate that you're a good moderator who doesn't abuse his power.

Still not going to address the idea that threatening people puts the kibosh on free speech, I see.

You said a lie, that you had been dropping into conversation for months and months until I finally called you on it. Since you refused to concede the point and admit that you were obviously lying, I decided to make a demonstration that proved the point.

Again: let's get to the fucking core of it shall we: IF MY MODERATION IS EXACTLY LIKE RPG.NET'S HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU STILL HERE?!

QuoteThere's no concerted effort - I've never spoken to anyone about your policies save out here in the open - and there's no campaign. You mean like you have and continue to do here in this very thread?

Holy fuck. It just amazes me the way you can brazenly, bold-facedly lie, but lies that are so obviously lies, and you don't seem to care at all.  Its like if you were smashing the window of a car, and someone walks up to you and you say "I'm not robbing a car", and you keep insisting on that while you're hotwiring it.

QuoteYeah. Banning folks to prove a point is a good way to demonstrate that you're a good moderator who doesn't abuse his power.

Is that the new twist now? "Abuse his power" instead of "just like rpg.net"? Shifting the goalposts?

Watch him now say "I've never shifted the goalposts".  Then he's going to set fire to someone's house and tell them "your house is not on fire" while they try to flee.  Its like watching some bizarre SNL sketch ("He's Seanchai! The guy who doesn't know how to lie!... but does it all the time).

QuoteStill not going to address the idea that threatening people puts the kibosh on free speech, I see.

Seanchai

That's because its a stupid idea.  What you're basically arguing is that my very presence puts the kibosh on free speech. Under that notion, only a board with no moderator (note: not "no moderation", no moderator, period) would be able to have "free speech".

Does the mere presence of a police officer in a western democracy put the "Kibosh" on free speech?  Not unless what the free speech you're planning to engage in is to shout "Fire" in a crowded building.

Have you noticed that despite all this stuff you're still here whining about it? I've never gotten banned for anything I've written here, and as you like to point out, I can be a dick. I'd most certainly get banned at RPG.net, especially since I'd tell the lot of them what a bunch of pussies they are and how they could go fuck themselves in detail. Don't get banned for that here though. Maybe Pundit just doesn't like you. This is his site after all, if he wants he could apply free speech to everyone but you. Still, here you are, whining like a pussy again. Evidence for all and sundry how different this place is from RPG.net.

Quote from: RPGPundit;414727IF MY MODERATION IS EXACTLY LIKE RPG.NET'S HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU STILL HERE?!

Tell us again how even tempered you are...

I stay because I enjoy the site enough that it's worth bearing your pronouncements of victory, silly war, "moderation," etc..

But who said your moderation was exactly like The Big Purple?

Quote from: RPGPundit;414727You mean like you have and continue to do here in this very thread?

Continue to do what exactly? You think is a concerted effort? A campaign? That I started this thread? Or that I started discussing your moderation practices before others did? Exactly what part is supposedly a lie?

Quote from: RPGPundit;414727Is that the new twist now? "Abuse his power" instead of "just like rpg.net"? Shifting the goalposts?

You don't get it, do you? Being a moderator has always been about the use of the power that's given to you. If you whined about people criticizing you, but didn't have the power to do anything about it, no one would care.

Quote from: RPGPundit;414727What you're basically arguing is that my very presence puts the kibosh on free speech.

No, that's your strawman. Feel free to dance with it as you will.

My position is that your running around foaming at the mouth and making threats hampers free speech. Not your presence or the presence of any other moderator, specific actions that you've undertaken and will no doubt take again.

You say we have free speech. You say we can criticize you. Fine. Great. People say all sorts of things without repercussion. But then, every once and a while, the real you has a had a bad day or a comment particularly stings or whatever, you get all lathered up and begin yelling about banning. (Or maybe you ban someone to make a point.)

Whether or not you actually ban folks doesn't matter. You just made it clear that said topic is off limits. That's not free speech. When said topic is your job as a moderator, it's clear criticizing you has gone out of the window.
