SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

RPGPundit Declares Victory: TheRPGsite will thus obviously remain open

Quote from: Seanchai;414415And who decides what's honest criticism and what's an attempt at harassment and destabilization? That's right - you.

If you were a paragon of virtue, it might be reasonable to conclude that you wouldn't let your personal feelings get in the way of your duties and decisions.

But, as we know, you're a hot-tempered fusspot.

As I said upthread, look at your calm, even-handed initial responses in this thread. Or, really, any one of several threads where you rush in, swinging ad hominems and cussing up a storm.

Or look at the most recent banning. I don't think it's any coincidence that it the person who got banned for stalking happened to be stalking your buddy. You can't spit here without hitting someone following someone else around for the purposes of saying nasty things, yet no one has been banned (to my recollection) for it until it happened to Koltar...

What I think it comes down to, however, is this: There's no difference to the site or what free speech exists here between getting huffy and threatening to ban people and getting huffy and actually banning them. Both are instances of you using your status to squelch what is being said.

Dude, seriously. I was afraid someone would take this time to bother explaining those assholes, something this forum could do without (not enough brain-bleach). That was a close one, and...

Quote from: FrankTrollman;413816OK, a bit of history there too. ICP stands for Insane Clown Posse. And they were a Detroit-based White Rap group who had a theme where they dressed up as demon clowns and ranted about stabbing people. They cultivated a fanbase that was really annoying because they reveled in being confrontational and juvenile at the same time. Their fans were called "Jugalos" and pretty much aspired to be the Jokerz from Batman Beyond.

ICP got religion and now they are an inspirational Christian Rock group. The Jugalos are currently divided as to whether they should likewise embrace Jesus or abandon them for having Gone Soft.

They have spawned the meme "Fucking magnets, how do they work?" because they are now seriously peddling that line as evidence for existence of the Christian god. It's probably the stupidest construction of the Cosmological Argument for God that has ever been formulated.

You are such a silly sad little man.  If my temper or disposition were what determined who got banned around here, you would've been gone years ago. Yet, again, you are still here. As are several others who piss me off.  On the other hand, some posters I had nothing personal against are now gone.

My buddy? I hardly know Koltar.  He's at best a recognizeable character on here, but then so was cylonophile. Both have said things I consider stupid at times, both had personalities I consider grating at times, both have sometimes played "yes men" to me at times.
The only difference between the two was that one (cylonophile) was engaged in a prolonged cross-board campaign of harassment against the other.

I guarantee you, Seanchai, that if you were to show me evidence that some other poster has been following you around to every site you register on, and followed you into this one, in order to follow you around each thread and shoot random insults at you, has sent you harassing personal emails, etc. then I would ban that person.  Whether it was Koltar, whether it was you, whether it was me, it doesn't matter who the victim was.

So, again, you're full of shit, and you're embarrassing yourself.

Story-Games is nothing like the Forge.

It's a nice place actually, if anything it's problem is an excess of niceness.  It's like the mirror therpgsite.
I roll to disbelieve.

This is the sense I've gotten from reading linked SG threads; I just don't have a huge interest in story-based gaming as it were, so I don't feel a need to visit it.

Not that funny a joke, Seanchai.

Sometimes One Horse Town and I get along, sometimes we don't.

In private messages he has chewed me out about stuff, other times he's given me a friendly heads up.

As for Pundit - until I registered on this site I had no idea that both he & I liked "Legion of Super Heroes".
That and a love for traditional Role playing games are the only thing that Pundit & I have in common. As for politics - he & I likely disagree preetty much on that (and have in the past). But then again Life isn't poilitics and that shouldn't influence who you can game with at the game table.

Instead what I got threatened with banning for...what was that again? Breaking one of the few rules? No, that's right, saying something you didn't like.

How about you respond to the notion that just losing your temper and threatening to ban people is inimical to the free speech you say you love? I'll grant you that speech around here is certainly much freer than on The Big Purple, but the point of threatening to ban someone is to get them to stop saying what they're saying, which clashes with your pronouncement of high ideals...

Since I said something about it upthread...it's sort of a nice place, but I still run across a fair amount of sarcastic jibes about traditional RPGs and RPG practices, where the sarcasm is really a substitute for honest expression. Like people who've been raised in an overly strict religious environment, who can't just get on with their lives. There's also, with the niceness, a fair amount of breathless nonsense, particularly about the history of RPGs, which thrives in a non-critical atmosphere.

There are a number of people there I like, though.
