Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

RPGPundit Declares Victory: TheRPGsite will thus obviously remain open

I visited the D&D boards mostly. There was/is constant sniping in those threads. Being a passive-aggressive asshole is rewarded on this site, unless of course you represent some sort of twisted added value for the website, whether you want it or not, like in the case of Luke or Old Geezer, in which case you get a pass.

Constant bullshit from start to finish. RPGnet is the fucking dickhole of the internet, with 4chan and SomethingAwful right next to it. Which must mean the internet is hermaphrodite, has two assholes or something.

Noted. I guess it'd be more accurate to say I mostly read Tabletop Open. And I'm generally not too concerned with whether or not I'm allowed to call someone a dick online.

Totally agreed there. Also a totally expected result... try to restrict gamers with rules, and they'll find a way around them.

:hatsoff: :pundit:  Delivered with the usual hyperbole and histrionics!,bravo to a stellar  performance! :p

I've never been a Ron basher or sychophant. I like Sorcerer and Sword&Sorcerer etc. Don't know anything about his other designs.

Disappointing to see the Forge go down...some interesting views and nice folk over there.

Anyone who takes the time to consider anothers work and give intelligible (sans swearing), honest (solicited) feedback is OK by me! Not sure if Ron did on all occasions, but then who does?

Most of the time I'm not either, but it's nice to know I could if I wanted to. I like not having to watch my language... that I can say what I think. No one tries to tell me that there are children reading this site and so we have to be 'appropriate'.
Another site I frequent a lot, The Miniatures Page, is a VERY uptight Right-Wing affair... I find myself wanting to shout at people a lot because I can't shout at them a little.
So yeah, very happy with this forum... fuck those other bastards.

Heh, which is why I prefer it here. At least we're honest about it. This is why I'd prefer to be allowed to call someone a dick online.

Something Awful has become relatively tame in the last few years. It is almost a family site compared to 4chan's juvenile idiocy, and has a crapload of interesting and useful content in just about any area you care to name. There are still plenty of shitheads and a general hipster smartass vibe, but the $10 registration fee helps keep away some of the most tiresome riff-raff. Unlike RPGNet, it is also moderated in a mostly even-handed way in spite of the large user base. Actually, they even have a sort of fan topic for Pundit (and traditional gamers in general): Grognards.txt

Quote from: Sigmund;413429*snip* I've managed to game, discuss games, inspire, be inspired, engage in nerdrage, and act like a dick right here. Like him or not, agree with him or not, Pundy took over this site and not only continued it's tradition of open communication, he actually made it better. More focused about RPGs, a great resource for our self-publishing brethren, and a damn entertaining place. I couldn't give a damn about Ron Edwards or the forge, or the war, or whatever, but Pundy does, so rock on brother! It's only because he has more sense and a thicker skin that ya'all can even come here to his site and talk such silly ass smack anyway, so agree with him or not, ya oughta be thanking him for the forum he's given you to insult him.

nice post man...I concur wholeheartedly.
Love it!

I only read TTO, and Video Games. The rest just isn't worth my time (and frequently, neither are those two).

And while I've never felt the need to, it's nice to know I could tell another poster to "choke on a bag of dicks!", if I really wanted to.

Also...DAMN.
I thought Palladium threads were fucking Kryptonite on RPG.net

Quote from: Windjammer;413287As Brian Gleichman once put it (and I paraphrase), 'If the RPGPundit didn't remind people of the Forge, it would have been forgotten sooner. He only serves to give them a stage presence that otherwise they'd have lost long ago.' It's hard to deny the truth of that.

Neeeeext!

I have to admit, not in any way to poop on Pundit's fun, that if it weren't for him, I would never had HEARD of the Forge...and honestly all I know about it is what he's said. They had a website, you say?

Congratulations, all the same, and anything that stresses RPGnet works for me in general...but maybe only a brief celebration is in order, eh?

While I do appreciate what freedoms we have here, they're not because Pundit has a thicker skin. Look how quickly he jumped on folks disagreeing with his assessment about his victory and the language, etc., he used in those posts. Does that really strike you as the reaction of someone with a thick skin?

No, we have what freedom we do because that was the best way Pundit could think to stick to the Man - in this case, the Big Purple. It isn't so much about having freedom of speech here as much as it is showing their mods that we have freedom of speech (within proscribed limits).

I'm more deontological than teleological, so...

Thicker skin than someone who instantly resorts to threats of bans, post edits and "mod voice" to get his point across, that's for sure!
