SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

RPGPundit Declares Victory: TheRPGsite will thus obviously remain open

"In a way, the Lands of Dream are far more brutal than the worlds of most mainstream games. All of the games set there have a bittersweetness that I find much harder to take than the ridiculous adolescent posturing of so-called \'grittily realistic\' games. So maybe one reason I like them as a setting is because they are far more like the real world: colourful, crazy, full of strange creatures and people, eternal and yet changing, deeply beautiful and sometimes profoundly bitter."

I think the moderation sucks ass over there, so I'm going to say it.

Oh man. If you do it, do it in style.

Quote from: Melan;413416Regular users also do that little grave-dancing trot on Trouble Tickets when a hated figure gets banned.

Not so much these days. Anyone who's not a mod gets a rap on the knuckles for that now.

Ha! I am losing ranks in my RPGNet Lore skill. Seriously, since d20/D&D, the last subforum of theirs I was reading regularly turned into a boring wasteland, I haven't been visiting all that much. Today, to commemorate Benoist, I took a trip around, looked at what's new on Tangency and all that. The place has changed again. It is hard to put into words but it is there; it didn't become worse, it just, I don't know, has a weirder atmosphere to it? Like it wasn't RPGNet anymore but poorly written fan fiction about RPGNet if that makes sense? Huh.

Honestly, I don't see why any of ya'all read or post at RPG.net at all. I've looked at it a handful of times, and never created an account there. I went to be entertained by Benny's digital middle-finger, and all I see is mod-rage and pathetically smug dickheads digitally high-fiving themselves for being assholes. That's not entertaining at all. Why would you willingly post somewhere that's so oppressive in it's mod policies that folks are afraid to talk about shit for fear of "the ban". Fuck them and their bans. I mean, I get that it's a private forum and not subject to free speech and all, but why would you moderate so heavily that folks become afraid (although I have no idea why, cuz really, who fucking cares if you get banned from there... it's not like it's the only site on the internet) to actually have discussions... on a discussion forum. Fucking ridiculous. I've managed to game, discuss games, inspire, be inspired, engage in nerdrage, and act like a dick right here. Like him or not, agree with him or not, Pundy took over this site and not only continued it's tradition of open communication, he actually made it better. More focused about RPGs, a great resource for our self-publishing brethren, and a damn entertaining place. I couldn't give a damn about Ron Edwards or the forge, or the war, or whatever, but Pundy does, so rock on brother! It's only because he has more sense and a thicker skin that ya'all can even come here to his site and talk such silly ass smack anyway, so agree with him or not, ya oughta be thanking him for the forum he's given you to insult him.

Eh... I like the gaming threads, which are the majority of the content over there. People talk about games a lot more than they do the shenaniganny bullshit.

Cylonophile

Doesn't thins belong in the pundit's own forum instead of the general RPG thread? I hate to act like coal tar and try to tell people how to post, but in this case I think this clearly belongs in the pundit's own forum.

Depends. If Pundit's ok with it here, then it's ok if it's here.

The Gaming threads are the majority?

 You must be kidding

Two or Three years ago they admitted in Trouble Tickets that Tangency had gotten so big abnd taken up so much bandwith (memory space/whatever) that they had to prune and purge 4 to 5 years worth of old threads and gave everyone a last chance to look at them in a thing called 'the graveyards" . Then they did big purge.
Occassionally the arrogant bunch lets a peak behind the curtain happen and they admit that Tangency takes up most of the traffic.

I can and do talk about games here and don't worry at all that something I write might be "offensive" to some poor, thin-skinned, special little snowflake. Different strokes I suppose.

Also, good job Bennie.

Also also, having just finished watching "V for Vendetta" like, literally five minutes ago, all I can say is "woah".

You mean its the majority of the content of their RPG subforum(s).  RPGs as a whole are a significant MINORITY of the content on the increasingly inaccurately-named "rpg.net" as a whole.
