This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

RPG Swap?

Hey guys,

Since we're a fairly small site here, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing an RPG Swap?  I'm sure a lot of you have seen things like this on Big Purple--basically, you list your interests, but you're given a name of a person to send an RPG product to.  Some folks win out big, others likely don't, but it's a nice way to clean off some shelf space and perhaps give a book you aren't interested in a new home.

I figured if we did it, we could do one for our US posters, one for the UK/Europe crowd, and one more perhaps for the international types (which should help at least some folks with the postage.  I've definitely got a few books I'm willing to swap.  It can be a sourcebook, a generic RPG book, main rules--whatever.  Just don't be a cretin and send Rifts World Book 26 to someone who will never play Rifts (I'll do my best to match folks up as I can).

Now, you don't tell the person you swap what book they're getting--it has to be a surprise.  Basically, everyone would PM or email me a shipping address, a name, and the type of books they're interested in, and in return, they'd receive one to ship something to.  If there's interest in this,
I'd happily run it---I think we're a small enough site this could work out quite well, and we all get some new product.

So...who's interested?

Why not just a trade thread?  Or am I missing the point?

Eh, I just thought it would be fun to get a random RPG book at your doorstep, something you may have never picked up on your own but might up really liking (or hating, I suppose).  Trade thread would be just as cool by me.

I think it's a "good spirit" thing, getting a surprise, etc...

My problem is that I am too likely to get a "surprise" I already own.

I'd be glad to trade with any Canadian posters, especially Montrealers that I could meet.

See, that's something I'd consider. I'd hate to have to deal with international shipment costing as much as an item is worth, or more.

Sadly I don't have much to move on, and even less that isn't stuffed into some poorly labeled moving box. A couple D&D 3e core books (might as well be sending an empty potato chip bag, only costing more postage). Hrmm there is somewhere the T1-T4 module someone might want, I've heard people like those and this one's in pretty good shape.

Yeah, I figured we'd try to match up fellow countrymen whenever possible...

Yeah I've got a load of stuff I never read/use.  I'm in.

Doesn't look like we have a plethora of interest yet, but I guess we'll see if anyone else is interested...

I'd be more interested in a stickied trade thread where folk list their Wants and Haves.

I'd be interested in some trades.  I've got some games that I will never play; I'd like to free up the shelf space.

Balbinus

I have trades, but I don't really want random stuff, I'm slimming down what I have and only really want particular items now.

obryn

I'd be willing to trade the new Runequest for basically anything WFRP2 or D&D 3.5 which I don't already have :)
