This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Well, keep in mind they're a group of new players.

I think the reason they weren't right in his face is because they favored the NPC, so they still wanted to give him some privacy.

They knew the priest would come at some point, just not at that exact point. I had him come to throw them a curveball, unexpected things happening.

Regarding the part you underlined, usually they're the ones who want me to skip ahead on those parts because it gets tedious. "We set up the tents, eat the  rations, etc., etc., same thing as always." That's what tripped me up.

All sounds good to me.

The player made a mistake and blamed the GM.

"Of course I was watching the prisoner while I was talking to the priest for a long time in a different room. Do you think I am stupid or something?" Yes.

We say "We set up camp" and that's it. with the assumption that includes tents, rations, gathering firewood, fetching water, drinking ale/wine, going to the toilet, personal hygiene and so on.

I am as meticulous as necessary in game. For my adventure write ups I tend to write down the location, month, day, year, and general time of day.

Last session of Necessary Evil was much more meticulous. Time was measured hourly. The group had to get somewhere by 6 pm when the League of Super Evil was breaking into Star City Airport to get access to a spacecraft and knock a V'sori death ray satellite out of the sky before it orbited overhead of Star City at 6:30 P.M. So rather than general morning, afternoon, evening, etc. it was much more specific.

The last write up. GM section has my notes on how I handled time in that session:

Villain Bios

Character Name: Doctor Steel
Player Name: Jonathan
Archetype: Doctor/Blaster
Origin of Super Powers: A failure with a medical experiment with longevity using lasers to revitalize cell tissue created another altered form of superhero rather than restoring Dr. Steel's youth, vim, and vigor. Dr. Steel suspects that each use of the alternate form continues to shorten his lifespan as well.
Hindrances: Gimmick, Elderly for human form; Gimmick, All Thumbs (cannot use modern devices well due to a flowing metal form covering his hands interfering with manipulation of touch screens and other modern devices with manual dexterity and a force field that surrounds him interfering with modern devices electrical systems causing jamming). Something to Prove (M: New Hindrance): The character is actually a good guy hero but if accused of being a hero or being nice must do a horrifically villainous act to fit in. Cautious, super form.
Powers: In his normal elderly form, he has five goons that do his bidding (as his Born a Hero Edge = Followers). However, they do not respond to his other super form at all (They only take orders from the old man who employs them and not the super power form). Laser Trapping Blaster Level 3, 3d4 damage AP 4 (laser trapping is from core Savage Worlds. This drops the damage by one die type but adds AP. Additionally it allows for a very high AP with the right Attack Ranged mods), force field around him does Deflection level 4, Speed level 1, Altered Form (Metal): Blocks Kinetic weapons.  Extra Action Repeat Action Level 1.

Omega Cell 107 Report 8

Thursday July 1, 2004
Star City, The Docks, 1:30 A.M.

Well I hope they are ready, security at Star City Airport will be tight. They must succeed in getting to space and destroying the satellite. We are losing more and more super villains each day this death satellite is online. At this rate, there will be no Resistance left by fall.

Baron de Villain called his League of Super Evil associate Dr. Steel for additional help. He told the group to arrive by 2:30 P.M. The group left to find a sewer entrance to go Downtown where Dr. Steel lived in an apartment and also where Star City Airport is located.

The rest of the Omegans left Mongo in a state of near death from starvation for human blood. Fortunately for Mongo, he got to eat a random dockworker that wandered into the warehouse. Mongo pulled him into the Atlantean Mini-sub by his ankles and gorged on his blood.

[Randall played Catnap to start the session, removing all three Fatigue Levels from Mongo, so he ate a dockworker and was restored to full strength after a thirty minute nap shortly after the group left.]

The Omegans found the sewer entrance. Baron de Villain saw and heard a group of men in an alleyway. There were sounds of strangulation and blood sucking in the alley and the Baron saw the signature grey cloaks of the Longshoremen in the shadows. After entering the sewer the Baron told the group what he had seen and heard. Apparently Mongo's vampirism was spreading like a virus and had been transmitted to the Longshoremen. The Omegans decided to ignore it for now as the satellite was a more important target.

The Omegans wound their way through the underground sewers of The Docks and Downtown leaving the sewers to arrive at Dr. Steel's apartment.

Thursday July 1, 2004
Star City, Downtown, Dr. Steel's apartment 10:30 A.M.

They arrived early to Dr. Steel's apartment and he complained a lot about it being unclean and not ready for house guests. He insisted that his guests clean up themselves and then help his men clean his house for their rudeness. Micro didn't like his attitude so scouted ahead and made some signs in the sewers to help them get to Star City Airport later.

The Huntress actually talked to Dr. Steel and gave him some gifts she had gotten from a secret admirer. Damn it, I should have known something was wrong with her right then. The Huntress never talks. In all likelihood, the V'sori had planted an agent in her place who could copy her device powers after killing her.

[Bobbie played Hidden Stash for some items the Dr. wanted.]

After about an hour, Siberian created an ice car for Dr. Steel and his men to slide him around the sewers and remain clean since he insisted that he wanted picked up. It was a cold ride, but I guess beats touching the muck and slime on the walls.

Thursday July 1, 2004
Star City, Downtown Sewers, 3:30 P.M.

Following Micro's signs and then navigating the rest of the way through the sewers, they found a woman called The Manticore or C-4830. Chimera's sister, one of Dr. Mengele's creations who talked with a harsh, loud German voice. Manticore had dark blue skin hardened with natural armor. On her face, shoulders, arms, legs, and back she had large spikes that retracted as she inhaled and extended as she exhaled.

[Her unique form of damage field is controlled by her breathing.]

Her bizarre appearance was completed with a spiked tail that ended with a large morning star-like ball covered with spikes. Her back also had large extensions of the bone in the shoulder blade. Micro and Baron de Villain recognized her facial features as being similar to Chimera's true form. The Manticore had them security and airport maintenance crew uniforms made so those that could put them on. Baron de Villain invented a device to give him the illusion of a security guard. Micro, The Huntress, and The Manticore had to rely on their stealth alone.

Micro scouted the airport which was a large civilian airport with a fortified V'sori spaceport with a couple of space capable ships. It was guarded by flying drones and drones in flak turrets. Being discovered crossing the airport to get to the spaceport would cause them to be targeted by the flak guns. If they could reach the steel wall without tipping them off, the flak guns could not target them as they could only achieve a thirty degree downward incline and had a mere 135 degree firing arc forward rotation.

[I was using the DramaScape Savage Worlds Weapon Card Battle Flak for these locations on the Steel Fort map.]

Thursday July 1, 2004
Downtown Star City Airport 6:00 P.M.

The Omegans wore their disguise and seemed busy near an airplane ready to take off near the spaceport.

[Jonathan used Sidekick on his minions to give them a Bennie to make their stealth roll.]

The Manticore used her unique lock picking talent by placing one of her hand spikes into a lock and twisting the spike inside to pick the lock physically as a broadcast from the League of Super Evil disabled the magnetic locks.

The Manticore left the group to their task.

[I figured they'd try and recruit her, but instead angered her by calling her Chimera and she left in a huff.]

The Huntress entered the facility but the drones noticed her invisible form as if they were tipped off. The drones missed her and sent blaster shots whizzing past the Omegans.

The Huntress tried to destroy the V'sori Mbuna with a Fusion Grenade. She made it look like a bad throw at the V'sori Stingray, but in retrospect it looks like she was trying to sabotage the mission. The Mbuna took damage to its side chassis.

Siberian spent most of his time ripping open the flak turrets and killing the drones inside to prevent the flak cannons being used on them once they took flight into space.

Das Übermensch took to the air and punched the flying war spheres out of the sky.

[In one turn Joshua used Adrenaline Surge, Das Übermensch punched three of them out of the sky consecutively.]

Bubbles concentrated on taking out the drones with her sai.

Dr. Steel's minions destroyed a war sphere with their guns before they retreated to the sewers with the flak cannons pointed their direction destroyed by Siberian. Dr. Steel turned into his alternate super powered form that those followers do not follow so they abandoned him. Dr. Steel unleashed his laser beams on floating war spheres.

Micro used his ability to bounce off walls to hit war spheres in the sky.

Baron de Villain used his blaster pistol to shoot at the drones.

The enemy V'sori Warlord countered with stun blasts on Das Übermensch and Bubbles while his hyper drones fired V'sori Stingray light lasers on them. The floating war spheres opened up their floating core to reveal massive blaster cannons that fired on the group. Drones closed towards foes and used their shock touch and vibro blades to attack Baron de Villain. These attacks left Dr. Steel with two wounds and Bubbles with one wound.

[I got like a 3 of clubs on Initiative then a Joker, so it was like two enemy attacks at once.]

Bubbles panicked. After taking out a few drones, wounded, she entered the V'sori Manta and closed the cockpit. She sent a telepathic signal to Baron de Villain telling him what she was about to do and took off in a panic as her claustrophobia kicked in and she ran from the ground combat. Baron de Villain responded that it was a very bad idea but far too late as she rocketed away.

[She ran away at her fastest movement rate, 100 inches. Lol]

Micro realized that they needed to take out the V'sori Stingray and jumped off the wall. He punched the V'sori Stingray so hard that its light laser cannon exploded and then it tipped over and crashed to the ground, killing the drones, and leaving the V'sori Warlord wounded but still unbowed. Micro became wounded though from the hyper drones opening up their mouths and revealing large blaster cannons.

[Kevin used Rally to unshake and also help Baron de Villain recover from a stun shock attack by a drone.]

Micro jumped at the V'sori Warlord and punched at him, but he hit the downed ship a second time instead as the Warlord ducked.

The Huntress sent her destructive discs at the V'sori Warlord, hoping for a V'sori head trophy or at least acting like The Huntress well. One of her saw blades connected and wounded the V'sori Warlord but the other one stuck in Micro's back leaving him barely standing. Dr. Steel finished him off with a couple well-placed laser blasts.

[I burned all my GM Bennies trying to soak get a Mindblast in here to no avail.]

Thursday July 1, 2004
Earth Low Orbit 6:29 P.M.

Panicking due to her claustrophobia, Bubbles shot into space in the V'sori Manta hurtling towards the Orca death ray satellite. She fired a fusion missile at the satellite that veered widely and exploded. The satellite fired an H-1Hammerfist missile at her that exploded nearby and sent her spinning out of control towards the satellite.

Meanwhile, the group got into the V'sori Mbuna after finishing off most of the remaining drones and flew off after Bubbles. In the back of the Mbuna was Dr. Steel returned to his human form bandaging his wounds and trying to seal them, Micro bandaging his wounds and then getting inside a spacesuit, Siberian, and The Huntress. Das Übermensch piloted the ship and Baron de Villain manned the guns. Baron de Villain managed to hit the satellite at long distance as it tried to align the death ray at Bubbles. This laser shot ricocheted off but made the satellite spin out of control.

[It never recovered. d10 piloting for Hyper Drones and they gave me 1,2,3 to recover from out of control]

After scattering a spray of laser cannon shots at the satellite, Bubbles barely gained control of the ship before she collided with the satellite and pulled up to sail over the satellite.

As the satellite continued spinning, Das Übermensch got the ship closer as Baron de Villain missed with the ship laser. In the back of the ship, The Huntress pulled the pin on a grenade. Micro's danger sense went off and he opened the side door release of the ship.

[I had them all make Agility rolls to stay inside and The Huntress critically failed.]

The Huntress was sucked into the vacuum of space as the fusion grenade she was holding exploded. Even if the initial fusion grenade blast didn't kill her, she suffocated in the vacuum of space.

Micro bounced off the back of the ship and used his movement to try and float towards the satellite and punch it. This left him free falling slowly towards the spinning satellite.

Siberian used his super speed to close the door quickly and prevent the loss of all air in the back of the ship. Dr. Steel's healing attempt was halted by the need to hold on to live and losing his surgery tools that he was holding to try and stitch his wounds.

Baron de Villain shot the satellite at short range and it exploded. Bubbles managed to turn the V'sori Manta around in time to prevent crash landing on the Moon.

With the satellite destroyed, the Omegans in the V'sori Mbuna recovered Micro and the remains of the Huntress. The Omegans returned to Earth and headed towards Lemuria. I watched Bubbles crash land the V'sori Manta in Lemuria. Completely destroyed, she got out of the vehicle with bumps and bruises and hurled from the trauma of the claustrophobia. I sent a transmission to Omega Cell 107 that I wanted an autopsy performed on the remains of The Huntress. In the back of the Mbuna, Dr. Steel and Siberian managed to heal Micro of his wounds. The group entered Baron de Villain's Lemurian secret lair as night fell...

You might want to reread post 14.

What about the post? Were some details off? They look the same to me. It's been a few weeks now so I'm starting to forget the finer details.

And we're all new. Well, I've done RPs like Paranoia and Amber before, but I'm new to D&D with its much heavier ruleset and then I got my IRL friends in on RPGs in general too.
Battle doesn\'t need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don\'t ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don\'t ask why I fight.
