This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'm writing a modern day adventure where character are hiking in the deep woods.  The character come across a murder scene right at the start of the adventure.  I have plot ideas, but I'm not quite able to put it all together where it gels nicely.

I'm looking for inspiration to help my ideas flow.

Without elaborate exposition, I can say that I have some supernatural elements at play.  I'm using the CoC rules, but not doing anything with the classic Lovecraftian gods, monsters, and it's not set in Lovecraft Country.

I'm not looking for Blair Witch or Lovecraft stories or Slasher stuff like Friday the 13th.  It's a straight up real world murder scene that is not supernatural, that leads into the discovery of supernatural events at work nearby - if that makes sense.

Do you have any short story, RPG adventures, or movies suggestions, or other pieces that could provide inspiration? Thanks.
