This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

There are too many "FANTASY" threads around here. Too much Sword & Sorcery. Its like I'm drowning in Elves, dwarves, Orcs, Swords, Medieval titles and wizards..../ARRRRGGHH!!!

Could we maybe have a fw more discussion about games that use Starships??

 Robots??

Psionic powers?

Armored High-tech Troopers??

Anyone ever do a RPG scenario loosely based on the HALO franchise?? We just got those HALO-Clix boosters in the store and they look so darn close to TRAVELLER ground troops.

How about some Time Travel RPGs?

A REAL Roleplaying game called "My Life With the Doctor"?

How about rebels on Mars fighting for their rights against an oppressive Earth-run government?

next week i'll be starting a MT adventure set at the start of the fifth frontier war.  the players will all be imperial navy, the crew of a 400 ton gunned escort.  10 crew, half of which will be player characters.  i'll start them right off with a mysterious sensor result, leading to an upgunned freighter and some anti-imperial revolutionaries.  we'll see if they go privateer or plain ol' pirate once the war kicks in.

I'm working on Commonwealth Space & Glorianna as I type, both SF games.

I'm running a StarCluster 2 game based on hunting down space pirates. The players have designed a Q-ship for the purpose, looking like an old battered freighter.

I much prefer SF to fantasy, actually. I always have.

You mean you're running "classic TRAVELLER" setting using the MegaTraveller rules?

Reason I ask is that MegaTraveller's timeline starting point I thought was at least a decade after the Fifth Frontier War had ended.

Are you running the Fifth Frontier War happen mostly as it did ? Or are you leting what the players do influence the outcome through various ripples of chain-reaction events?

Best damage system to be published.

we usually play in the CT period (indifferent to the rebellion thing) but use the MT rules, yes.

i have some timeline resources that show the way FFW plays out.  apparently there are some odd communication issues and errors.  so i'm going to follow the framework and wing the results.  if the players somehow manage to "change events" then we'll see how that goes.

always wanted to play in that setting.  love the pentapods, but don't really care for the kafers.  all the guns were pretty cool too.  killer starmap as well.

I endorse all of the above statements. Luckily, we played a pentapod campaign over the summer.

Settembrini´s little secret:

No Kafer.
And my kick-ass idiosyncratic idea for a campaign setup! I´m so happy I found something in Sci Fi that has not been done to death leads me to savour and cherish it without telling anybody...my preshusss!

EDIT: And the players are exploring it right now. I feel so creatively-groovy.

I'm sorry, Koltar! By SF did you mean Traveller? If so, I'll not post here and disrupt things.

Koltar, Nebuleon has all of that sort of stuff in it , you should check it out. :)

Also, the new Metamorphosis Alpha didn't seem all that great to me. Just sort of came off as a big "Blah".
