This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

There's also an official Savage Worlds sourcebook for Robotech, although like the new RPG, it only covers Macross so far.

Strange Machine Games finished up the Kickstarter for the Next Generation sourcebook (Robotech: Homefront) recently and it covers both Southern Cross (Robotech Masters) and the New Generation (Invid Invasion.)  It is getting ready to be released to the general public soon and they opened up the Pledge Manager so people that missed the Kickstarter can purchase the book!

As a long time Palladium fan I can safely say the newer two versions of non-Palladium Macross books look solidly "Meh" to me.

Then again, I'm now a rules lite aficionado.

My recommendation is Tiny D6 Mecha vs Mosters.  Just play it Mecha vs Mecha, as the rules are meant to be for any setting you want.   It includes rules for transformers.  And combiners like Voltron if you like that too.

My only caveat is the 2nd edition Mecha vs Monsters: Evolved is imminent.  I'm honestly surprised it's not out yet.
I'm glad for you if you like the top selling game of the genre.  Me, I like the road less travelled, and will be the player asking we try a game you've never heard of.

Has anybody played this game? Is it any good? Would you recommend it?

Not as much as R. Talsorian Games Mekton II and Mekton Zeta.
"Meh."

Sometimes someone comes up with a system that just perfectly encapsulates a certain genre and everyone else just spends untold hours and dollars trying to create something better... and continually failing because they have to do something other than perfection.

Mekton (II or Zeta) is that for the giant robot genre (similarly no Star Wars rpg has bettered WEG's version). The only thing close is Battletech and it's basically it's own genre at this point (i.e. all its rules and options are meant to work in the Battletech universe vs. generic giant robot settings).
