Ghost Whistler

If you had 'Heroes the rpg' what adventures would you write? What characters and campaigns would you create? Would they be different from anything you might create with something else, such as M&M?
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

Not seeing anything theme wise or power wise that I couldn't really do with any existing Superheros game be it M&M, SAS, Champions, BESM etc...

Game wise probably run it fairly dark and mundane similar to the show.  Probably run adventures that have a singular component, stop the bank robber, but also tie into a bigger plot as well.

M&M has a setting designed for just such a universe (I think); it's called Paragons (maybe).

The first few sessions would be awesome, but then the next few sessions would be totally godawful full of NPCs no one cares about and no coherent plot.  Later it'd get better, but by then no one would care.

Therefore everyone should probably have several characters.

Well I don't know about M&M but what I would do is run 1 or 2 brief adventures centered a specific PC with the other PCs helping out. When all the PCs have had their storyarcs played out (and been the star of the show) I'd introduce a sinister org that hunts them for some reason....oh, what the hell, I'd just steal The Shop from Firestarter. Then I'd have Sylar kick their asses.

As a parody, I would have the sinister organization's initials as NBC.  Maybe something like Neo Brain Cutters.  That way, I can have Sylar lead the organization.

I am a Hero System's fan and I would say the best game system to play a Heroes the TV series game in is GURPs.  Realistic setting and action with simple powers is a perfect for the system.

The Big thing for a Heroes Game is to prep all those plotlines ahead of time and weaving the characters into the world (and the big plots).  It takes planning to pull of a supers game, it would take even more to pull off a Heroes' styled game which has mystery elements like Lost, plus all that roleplay drama, plus the physical challanges that require powers to deal with.

Thus the bone for this game is on the GM's Head.  He needs to do a lot of work to make this game right.

No! Nooooo! I bought Paragons, expecting to it to be Heroes. It's not. I'd be hard pressed to tell it apart from any relatively low key comic book setting. Also, it's a tool kit and not a pre-set setting!

Yeah, me too. It's really just a normal supers setting that might play out kinda like Watchmen, but the "setting" is meant to start right as the first superheroes are "born"... like our world if we woke up tomorrow and discovered we had unusual powers and didn't know why... but like comics superpowers (in that you'd build a regular superhero), not Heroes where everyone can pretty much only do one thing and that's not always even very useful. I think a Heroes setting would be pretty easy to devise, just start with a lower power level and then play in the "real" world... including stuff like more realistic physics (nobody lifts cars, and people will die when punched by someone with superstrength, etc).
