This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

What do you most look for in a Player?

Ability to consistently show up for game sessions.  Everything else is gravy.
The problem is not that power corrupts, but that the corruptible are irresistibly drawn to the pursuit of power. Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito.

Other than attendance, my new rule will be 'not a GamerGater.'
This forum is great in that the moderators aren\'t jack-booted fascists.

Unfortunately, this forum is filled with total a-holes, including a bunch of rape culture enabling dillholes.

So embracing the \'no X is better than bad X,\' I\'m out of here. If you need to find me I\'m sure you can.

Their husbands."

Sometimes the husbands have the biggest boobs -YIKES!
Jesus Fucking Christ, is this guy honestly that goddamned stupid? He can\'t understand the plot of a Star Wars film? We\'re not talking about "Rashomon" here, for fuck\'s sake. The plot is as linear as they come. If anything, the film tries too hard to fill in all the gaps. This guy must be a flaming retard.  --Mike Wong on Red Letter Moron\'s review of The Phantom Menace

You realize that most of this website's ideas and tendencies would fall under the GamerGate banner, right.
Battle doesn\'t need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don\'t ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don\'t ask why I fight.

I don't think anyone here lives near me, so it doesn't matter. Heh

Tell me - when you perform such a self - fellatio, does the experience beat the taste of your own dick?
Furthermore, I consider that  This is Why We Don\'t Like You thread should be closed

I'd say it very much depends what people mean when they use that word.  But this isn't the place to have that discussion, so let's skip it.

Really, enthusiasm is the most important thing.  They have to want to be there and play the game.  If you have that everything else follows and if you don't everything else fails.

Here's what I look for in a player:

1) The player needs to be able to show up to game at the scheduled time.
2) The player needs to be willing to play the game I'm offering to run.
3) The player needs to have enough conscientiousness not to be That Guy.

Of course I've been a bad player by my own standards here in the past, but I've gotten a lot better.

woodsmoke

I think most players have been That Guy at some point in their lives. Gods know I have. The important thing is being self-aware enough to recognize it (and/or have friends who are willing to smack you upside the head with that information) and change your behavior.
The more I learn, the less I know.

Must be a self-motivated player - i.e., willing to create goals of their own for themselves and navigate the campaign world to advance those goals.

I'm only really interested in DMing if I'm going to be surprised by the players in turn.  I'm not really interested in "what module are we playing next?" players.
A framework for generating local politics

https://mewe.com/join/osric A MeWe OSRIC group - find an online game; share a monster, class, or spell; give input on what you\'d like for new OSRIC products.  Just don\'t 1) talk religion/politics, or 2) be a Richard

Yeah, that's a bingo for myself. My joy in GMing comes primarily from being surprised by the creativity of my players.
