This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

ANyone use Jack Ckick as a villain in their campaigns? I think it would be funny to do up stats for him in various game settings as a villain.

In D&D he could be some sort of pompous paladin type on a quest to force his religion on all peoples. I suppose he would have "Intolerance", "paranoia" and "delusional" as character traits, not to mention extra armor on his head to represent his thick, hard skull.

Let's see if we can come up with some amusing stats for Jack Chick as a villain for various game systems, it might be fun.

For Mage: the Awakening

Jack Chick

Path: Mastigos

Order: Banisher

Stats: As needed for an Antagonist in your chronicle, he can be a long time, powerful Banisher, or just a weak Mage with an agenda and a large Following. Players may Never even deal with Jack himself. Only his followers. Give him a high Mind and Space arcanum and you're set.

History and Description: Jack Chick Awakened inside a Guardian Labrynth. This Labrynth was a publishing company of RPG materials that had a cult like following in the 70's and 80's. However before Jack made it through the first veil. He quit. He found out the RPG company was making it's materials to lure and test people into the Awakened world.

Jack Chick, an admitted former occultist, uses his previous "experience" in the awakened world to bring it down. Seeing Mage's as evil worshipping threats to not just their own, but to everyone elses salvation. He lashes out against all RPG companies as he see's any RPG as a gateway into the same Labrynth he came out of.

He began by starting his own publishing company. He started out with just a Magic Infused tract propoganda campaign. Even though his "tracts" are obviously uninformed, he uses mind magic to make them very effective among weak willed mortal individuals.

This has developed him a strong, nationwide cult following who purchase his tracts and distribute them in countries all over the world. Their topics condemn more than just RPG's. Any vendetta Jack Chick has against any group, genre, and Culture is fair game. Rock, Rap and other non-Country Music is attacked just as regularly as RPGs.

Even though his tracts are terribly written and uninformed, he knows enough and has enough of a devoted following to be considered a threat to the Awakened world. The Texas Gaurdians of the Veil see him as a great embarassment, and do everything they can to cover up their involvement in his Awakening.

The Guardians have also started a counter propoganda campaign. Going to popular gamer hangouts and internet messsageboards and ridiculing him openly. Hoping to foster general emnity from the RPG playing crowd. This approach has been mostly successful.

The Mostly Cold War continues between Jack Chick and the Awakened world. Many Mages fear he is slowly gathering a mortal army. Open fighting would threaten the entire Awakened world. Because Chick's followers are mostly Mortals, the Paradox incrued from fighting them is never near worth it. Fighting has only occured in backwoods counties without any Law, where a Mage can be strung up, put to the Torch and never heard from again.

Jack Chick? Who cares about him? Ms. Frost is what it's about. I'd sure let her cast mind bondage on me...

It's been a while since I gave Unknown Armies a read, but I think that Chick is begging for Godwalker status.

That's predictable.  If you really want to throw your players a curveball, make Jack Chick the lone hero that really knows what's going on.  Role-playing games?  They really are hiding actual mind control spells in them.  Masons?  They really are Satanists.  And so on.  See how your players deal with that.

Yeah, sounds great. We could also add in that all jews go to hell and the catholic chrich is a front for satan.

(BTW, in case andy hackard or anyone of a comparable mentality is reading this I should point out that the above was sarcasm.)

This has always been my thought.  Who cares?

He doesn't even blip on my radar.

Frankly, I get a specific vibe from those who are so adamant and determined to even give him a second thought.  That vibe?  "Methinks thou doth protest too much."

Honestly, he only has an effect if you allow him to.  And this constant (I consider the various threads I read on an annual basis on various boards to be "constant") attention toward him to be as disadvantageous and annoying as the man himself.

Nope but there was a villain in H&S who was inspired by Dr. Frederic Wertham.
