This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Has anyone here ran or played D&D (or other TTRPGS) at a public library?

I ran a game at a public library, years ago (over 10 years ago).  I rented out one of the meeting rooms.  It went fairly well, though a couple of challenges.  1) they didn't let us bring snacks in.  Which was reasonable, but also a bummer.  2) On occasion some of my players got loud.  It was a "soundproofed" room, but it didn't help, depending on how dramatic/intense the scenario was.  Being reprimanded by a librarian mid-session was kinda amusing.

Yep. Same for us.

We knew something was up when they accused us of being too loud after they moved us to the basement meeting room.

Was fun while it lasted though. We mostly ran Torg, Robotech and Beyond the Supernatural. With forays into TMNT.

My teen group did it a few times and it was okay.  We had to register as a club, and the "club meeting" had to be open to the public.  One time we had a random guy show up to sit and watch us play.  We ignored him.  In retrospect we should have said hi and maybe invited him to play if he was okay, but none of us had great social skills.  I think he was in his 20's which also made a difference.
