This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

RPGPundit

Is this WFRP sourcebook out yet? If so, just what's in it? In particular, are the promised rules for making your own principalities a set of random generators (pleasepleasepleaseplease) or are they a set of dull dry advice that comes down to "do it your fucking self" (noooo!)?

What do people think of it?

One Horse Town

i haven't seen it yet, but i have it on good authority that about half of the book is chock full of random tables. I believe they cover all kinds of things from geography to the outlook of the prince, motive of the prince, nationality, religion, the military, monster lairs, ruins etc. etc. Basically, a whole bunch of tables to randomly create your own corner of the Border Princes.

I seriously wanted to take part in this book. Sadly, i was too late.:bawling:

From Green Ronin's website:

QuoteRenegade Crowns
A Guide to the Border Princes
For Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay
Format: 128-page full-color hardback
ISBN 1-84416-311-3

Not only does this book provide full details of the ever-changing lands of the Border Princes--with its petty kingdoms, warring princes, and knife-edge politics, it also provides the GM with all the resources they need to create an intriguing kingdom of their own. With full guidelines on detailing all aspects of a campaign setting, this book is ideal for groups who want to carve out their own principality from the treacherous sands of the Border Princes. Packed with background, history, new careers, extra rules, and a pre-generated setting to get you started, this book provides hours of gaming and tons of inspiration for Gamemasters keen to create their own corner of the Warhammer World.

"provides the GM with all the resources they need to create an intriguing kingdom of their own"

"full guidelines on detailing all aspects of a campaign setting"

"extra rules"

"pre-generated setting"

1, 3 and 4 give me hope of a random generator. #2 is the iffy one, as it could well mean a lot of fluff and little crunch.

Something that's just jumped back into my memory is that i think the type of ruling prince is split along lines like Merchant, Military, Magical, Political, Populist etc and that there are tables to determine which type they are, how many careers they have accumulated and how far advanced in their current career they are. Of course if you're carving out your own principality, these tables aren't needed, but for fleshing out an area seem pretty cool.

NOTE: The prince types above may be wrong, but you get the idea.

Is it wrong that I first read the title of this thread as "Renegade Clowns"?

For that one, I believe you'd have to look at the section on Carnivals in the WFRP companion. :D
