So I took advantage of a sale Kraken just had and I got some really sick dice. Unfortunately most use a boring gold ink so I plan on reinking them. I'm undecided on whether to choose acrylic paint or crayons. I already have paints since I paint minis but I've seen some pics of crayon work and it looks better. My main concern is I've read it may affect dice rolls. Any opinions on this?
I'm a crayon man myself. The crayon eventually wears off/chips out, but you can just touch them up again easy peasy.
I never heard of crayon affecting dice rolls. I'm skeptical. I think the shape of the dice (sharp versus rounded edges) would affect dice rolls more.
Ya affected dice rolls did sound like bullshit when I read it. Any tips/advice on using crayons? BTW just to be clear I like to ask around on the internet before I try anything new.
Crayons?? How does that work?
Liquid Paper is the One True Old School Way!
Grab yourself a crayon color of choice (preferably contrasts with the color of the dice) and rub it into the number crevice on the dice. I use a light back and forth motion, too much downward pressure tends to push the wax back out, IME.
Use a paper towel to wipe off the excess wax, and repeat until the number is filled. You want the wax packed and flush with the face of the dice.
Really, it's near impossible to mess up a crayon dice job. A little practice to get a feel for it is all you need.
