Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). I wouldn't mind a d20 Modern version of Faerie, Queen, and Country.

Ravenloft's always been one of those settings where the indivdual parts are great, but the whole just doesn't click.  It just never worked for me as a setting, but it's great to borrow from, particularly for Masque of the Red Death (a superior setting and premise, IMO).

I am really glad that White Wolf got around to releasing a d20 version of Masque of the Red Death before finally shelving the license.

Yeah, but the rules were somewhat half-assed.  But for the most part, easily fixable.

I suppose I should admit that my hope for more setting revival work comes from the deeply entrenched love I have for the Spelljammer, Dark Sun, and Al Qadim settings.

But hey, a guy can dream, can't he?

Since Al Qadim is a subset of Forgotten Realms I think its going to be a while.  As the next area book is the Moonsea.

See, it doesn't have to be. It got mashed into FR like Maztica and Kara Tur, but the beauty of Al Qadim is that it can be in any setting. It's like the village of Brigadoon. It can be in any desert, or every desert.

definetly true. Al Qadim's map may have fit into the realms with no problem - but remember that the map didn't show up until the Lands of Fate boxed set, which was well after Arabian Adventures had been released.

My worry about seeing Al-Qadim in print at this point is that the politics of the middle east are too sensitive for some companies to be willing to touch them, even in a fantasy-oriented game setting.

True. my main point as both of those started out as FR accessories that grew into their own product lines.  Al Qadim perhaps being the more popular one.

I borrowed a large amount of material from Ravenloft and Birthright in my last AD&D 2E campaign. For instance I combined the concept of darklords with the awnshegh and the rules for their respective domains.

Between all this kitbashing and the incredible amount of house rules I'd bolted on to AD&D it's a miracle I was able to run a single adventure but I got an eight year-long campaign out of it.
Why are there so many songs about rainbows and what\'s on the other side? Rainbows are visions, but only illusions, and rainbows have nothing to hide.

Nicephorus

I'm curious about this.  Is it the pet project of someone?  An ill advised move? (I suspect that S&S used up much of the demand for Ravenloft).  Or, do they have something bigger in mind (not just rpg) with the license and are just getting started?

Though it has been stated before, it bears repeating that Mysteries of the Moonsea will not be an area sourcebook in the traditional sense of the word.

Please explain then.
